Whining Noise?!?!?!?!?!

My 02 SCREW is in the shop for alittle odd and end warranty work.

An ongoing problem has been a whining noise. Not sure where it is coming from, but I KNOW I seen something on here before about a whining problem from possibly the rear?!?!?!?

I took it in before, the service manager did here it, but didn't know where it was coming from, they checked it out and said everything looked OK. When I took it this time, I told them I had read something on the internet and they asked me to find the site so I might be able to give them a heads up.

I give them credit for asking for "help", they are greta to work with, so ANY help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

THANKS GUYS!!!!

whining noise

My screw had to have a new rear end, not just gears but the complete rear end at 26,000 mi. The dealer tried gears but couldn't get the gear alignment right .

I wonder if that's what was going on with my '99? There was a whine, most noticeable at around 55 mph and up. It stopped if I let off the gas or put the tranny in neutral and coasted. I didn't think it was anything major because I had read of others with the same fairly high pitched whine. Kinda figured the people who didn't hear it couldn't hear anything in that frequency anyway...

Oh well, it's somebody else's problem since I don't have it anymore.

Well, I got the truck back and they stated they drove the truck, ckecked FORD service reports, and found no problem. THis was the second time I reported it. It whines when you first start out, sounds like the tranny but not sure. Well at least it is documented so if it gets worse or I have problems down the line, I have something to refer back to I guess!!

Thanks ALL!!

Re: Whining Noise?!?!?!?!?!

I had the same thing happen. Once I got sick of it and made my wife get out. That pretty much fixed it.

The only high pitched whining I hear is after installing my K&N replacement filter....I know a few said they hear a high pitched whine with this filter, when they step on it and it goes away when off the throttle. I might go buy an OEM filter and replace it just to check.

Wink RE: Whining Noise

It's not your wife or girlfriend is it? I've had that problem in the past.

Yeah... part of their new marketing campaign. Quality is Job #1 @ home and @ work.

I know my wife could use a new rear end... umm... I think I'm going to stop there.

The whine on mine started at 11000 miles. The noise is definitely from the transmission and is steadily getting noisier at 16000. I haven't had the time to take it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair. The whine is only heard when you start out. It sounds like a pump noise. Your computer will not show any codes on this one...so take it back to the dealer and have them diagnose the tranny. Please post what they find.

Thanks and good luck!
