Fire Extinguisher
Fire Extinguisher
I bought a chrome fire extinguisher for my Supercrew, however, cannot find a suitable installation location other than in the load area. Does anyone have a better Idea?

Fire Exinguisher
I have mine mounted on the floor in front of the drivers seat.... I simply zip tied the bracket to the seat bar.... then clipped in the extinguisher......... the whole thing moves back & forth when I move the seat
it works well .... unclips easily...... and I hope to heck I NEVER have to use it.......
good luck

One comment on mounting fire extinguishers (and as you can tell by my name, I know a few things about these). If possible, mount the extinguisher horizontally in line with the direction of travel.
The reason? Dry chem extinguishing agents will compact when subject to the vibration encountered in vehicle use, which could leave you with a pretty red (or chrome) can during an emergency, but not a functional fire extinguisher. By mounting the extinguisher in the direction of travel, the chemical will be continuously mixed by the normal starting and stopping of driving.
One other thing...if you're gonna buy an extinguisher for use in your truck, get one with all-metal construction, not the plastic valve "auto" extinguishers you see most commonly. My grandparents had the misfortune once of opening their camper van only to find their cheapo extinguisher had ruptured and covered every surface inside with extinguising agent. Metal valves are much less likely to fail.
Just my $0.02.

Thanks for your comments, Safetypro, I was not aware of the safety issue - it makes sense. I will install the unit - my original thought in the bed. I have an ARE cover, so the extinguisher is safe there although not convenient to get to in an emergency.
