Good advice. On our boats, we take the extinguishers off the mounts and give them a good shaking every 6 months. Perhaps the same thing can be done if a less than optimal mounting method is used?

No prob...

I'm planning on building a narrow storage box to go along one of the sides of the bed and straddle the wheel well. I plan on mounting an extinguisher in the shallower area over the wheel. If and when I get around to building it, I'll post pics.

I agree with the access issue...I have a SnugLid and realize it'll take a few seconds longer to get to in an emergency, but I can't think of any good place to mount it in the cab (especially since I'm planning on getting at least a 5 pound extinguisher). Besides, my big medical kit rides around back there too.

Question

I was wondering about storing the extinguisher in a tool box but do they work in cold weather. I've always kept mine in the cab lieing down that way it has a chance to warm up a bit in a tool box it could stand up, currently it's -24 'c & it's been know to be colder which is the best place to store it
Cab or toolbox
