Lockable Tonneau Cover

I recently bought a new Supercrew and I need to find a tonneau cover for my truck. It is important that the cover be lockable. Anyone know of any soft tonneau covers that can lock. I realize that someone could cut through the fabric but the lock is better then nothing. I also need to carry large items so a hard tonneau cover would be less covienient then a cover I could roll up. I want to preserve the look of my truck by not putting a camper on either so I am kind of stuck. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
Drew

2 ways you can go here.

There are the roll-up kind that extend to cover the bed and then roll up into a cylinder at the front of the bed (I think their aluminum and plastic)

Also look at Advance and Aero covers. Their are a semi-hard shell that fold in sections.

A search of posts in aftermarket should give you the proper brand names and costs.

good luck

It's not really locking but here's what I do. I have the Ford snapless soft tonneau on my truck. There are two loops on the back of the tonneau on each side to give you something to grab hold of when removing the cover. I hook a ratchet style tiedown strap to the loop and the tiedown hook on each side, tighten the straps and then close and lock the tailgate. The only way for someone to get in would be to cut the top.

I have an Access Cover which has a sliding lock to keep someone from rolling it up. I wanted a soft cover for the same reasons. I figured that out-of-sight out-of-mind will deter most thefts. Besides, I don't keep "valuable" stuff back there anyway.

I like the access cover. Will I still be able to use my extender with it or are the rails on the sides of the bed too wide for it. Also, how thick is the material. How will it stand up over time.
Thanks

Can you tell me what you paid for your Ford snapless cover? I was quoted $342 from my Ford dealer and other people on this board have told me that is way too high. How do you like it?

email me at dbackfan@cyberdude.com if you would like.

Thanks

TruckinMan,

There is no problem using the bed extender with the Access Cover. The rails are not near as wide as the square "posts" at the tailgate. The material measured to be 0.020" thick. It appears and feels that it will likely be durable, but I've only had it for three months.

I found another locking soft cover that I might have considered after I had bought the Access cover. I'm happy with the Access cover so far, though.

Does anybody have any comments about the Truxedo cover?

I ordered it with the truck from the factory for $150. My truck is a SuperCab but I assume they make one for the SCrew as well. I've had it for a year now and really like it. Two drawbacks though. First the rear corners like to curl up a little bit. My securing the tonneau with the tiedown straps helps that a little. The second drawback applies to all snapless tonneau's as far as I know. You either have to have it on or off. With a snap style you can just unsnap a section and leave the rest covered.

Check out the Aerocover

You may be interested in the Aerocover.
I ordered one for my Supercab. I'm not sure if they
have one to fit the Supercrew bed??
Here is a site you can see it at.

I paid $100 delivered for a Sport Master Toneau for my 2002
Lariat Screw. It was a little cool here in Phila today so I still installed it in about 20 Minutes complete.
Open box, read directions, assemble marked frame, center on
bed, clamp frame to bed with four clamps (Phillips screwdriver) required, slip three marked support hoops into frame, lay out the rolled cover on top and start snapping. Each snap is held with a phillips head screw and I had to move (adjust) but one to fit the cover.
The frame across the tailgate allows the gate to open and close without unsnapping the cover. As this is my first cover I didn't even know this. Great feature. Posted here some have cut the frame and added hinges to the cover frame rails allowing the cover and frame to pivot up to open and it clears the swing of the bed extendter without unsnapping the cover.
I will see how the cover survives the perils of the urban domain of Philly living. Heck of lot cheaper than the hard covers and the entire cover and frame can removed and stowed quickly if needed.
Again not lockable - but at least a cheap visual deterrent to theft.
