Problem finding Motorcraft 5W-20...

Hi,

My local WalMart is constantly out of it. Any idea where to find this brand? Seems like Penzoil, Quaker State, Havoline, and Exxon are the only brands available at Pep Boys and Autozone.

Thanks,
Jon

I put 5W30 in mine and forget about it. Ford only recommends that thin of an oil to meet their CAFE fuel mileage requirements. 5W20 is too thin at operating temperature to protect as good as 5W30.

Same here, went with the 5w-30. 5w-20 was to hard to find, and I wasn't to concerned about the CAFE ratings.

But, if you want to use the 5w-20, stop in at any bulk fuel distributor. There should be some bulk guys in your area.

When I checked the local distributors only one had it in stock, but they were all willing to order it at no extra cost if I could wait for a stock order.

You might want to check with AutoZone again. They recently opened a store in my hometown (less than a month ago) and therefore have up to date stock. They carry Motorcraft 5W-20, I bet your AutoZone would be able to get it. BTW does anybody know if the Motorcraft 5W-20 is what comes factory fill? I assume so, but I recently did my first oil change; oil didn't seem that thin to me. Just my 2 cents.

Question how about adavance auto??

i just changed my oil tonight and replaced the motorcraft 5-20 with havoline 5-20. I have been using havoline in 2 others and have seen a slight increase in mileage. So with my new f150 i decided to try it out.

I found Autozone to carry 5w20 Pennzoil and Walmart has both Motorcraft and Valvoline....

Advanced Auto Parts occassionally has Havoline.....it is pretty tough to find

I thought the CAFE standards didn't apply to light trucks.

Our Wal-Mart here almost always has the Motorcraft 5W20, and occasionally has the Motorcraft 5W20 Synthetic Blend.
Perhaps they could just give you a rain-check or something and order you a case of the oil and give you a call when it comes in if you weren't in too much of a hurry.
Just an idea........
