Opinions on Advance Tonneau

Anyone out there have recent experience with Advance Tonneau covers for a SuperCrew? I like the concept but it's a little pricey for a non-hard top cover. Suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can’t give you advice about the Advance cover….But the Ford cover is great. I like the looks and the tongue & groove Vs snaps design. You should check it out.

I just put the cover on my 02 Screw and it looks great! I researched the cover (and others) on this forum and decided that if I wanted a cover that

- looked good
- could easily be removed by one person whenever I needed to
- did not have snaps nor "arched bulges"
- and did not diminish the size of the already smaller bed

that the Advance cover was the only choice. I am very happy with the choice. Installation was relatively painless and I love the smooth, flat look of this cover.

Thumbs up

Just put one on my 2001 Supercrew. No problems with installation as long as you follow the directions. Pictures on instructions could have been a little more detailed but were adequate. Total time for installation was about 3 hours (took my time - I tend to get in a hurry sometimes) I like to look of the cover. Very low profile. Quality construction. Shipped very well. Very light - about 35 lbs total. Excellent service from KCovers. Ordered from them. Recieved the cover in 4 days. I also liked the look of the ARE and similiar covers but was looking for something that I could take off myself (looks very easy to do) and had an issue with the somewhat restricted access to the front of the bed. Also considered the possibility of having to load taller items or wood products (Novice Woodworker) so I liked the idea of being able to fold the cover back. Also like the easy access to the front part of the bed. I thought the covers would be kinda heavy and awkward to fold but that was not the case. Overall I am very satisfied with the cover. The only gripe (and a small one at that) is having to go on each side of the cover to unlock it. I can get used to that though just have to remember to unlock the passenger side first. The lifting tab is on the drivers side. Not that you can't lift it from the passenger side just is a little easier with the tab. I don't think you will be dissapointed with the cover. Go to www.kcovers.com they have an excellent site that has installation tips and a very detailed FAQ section. Hope this helps.

Photos on my screw

I've had mine on my SCrew for almost a year. No complaints. Works great. I'm not sure what you mean by it not being a "hard" cover. It's a lightweight, aluminum cover.

Also, try a search on "advance cover" using the search engine. There has been alot of discussion on this in the past an you may find some of the info useful. Here's a few links to the previous threads.

Thanks for all the input guys! Couple more questions:

1. The prices I've been running into are about $500.00 plus shipping. Sound about right?
2. Is the cover good at keeping rain out? Being in Hawaii, I don't worry about snow but we do get our share of rain.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I have had my cover for about 8 months and really love the look and versatility it provides. So far the cover has been water tight and that is pretting amazing considering some of the rain storms we get here in Northern California, although it does leak a little around the tailgate area after washing the truck. good luck on your decision.

Paid $500 in Houston, Texas. Installed myself.

As for it being watertight, I have very little trouble with water entering the bed. Like Norcalsupercrew said, you can get water in the bed if you spray around the tailgate. But you would get that with any cover.

In real life, I haven't experienced any leaking. In Houston this year we are at almost 72 inches of rain for 2001. And I take my truck thorough one of those premium drive thru/hand wash places about once a week and have never seen any water in the bed after a trip thru the wash.
