geddon,
I think I saw that concept of the Sportrac built on the Expidition platform in Motor Trend Magazine awhile back ... I tried looking a few places on the web to find a pic , but no luck ... if I do find it I will post it here.

yeah I know ... I spend a lot of time at Barns & Noble looking at magazines ... but they got those big comfortable chairs ... hot java... and lots of pretty young women walking around looking for a seat ... and it just so happens I saved one right here next to me !

but if it's between the sportrac and the Screw ... go for the truck !

When the SportTrac came out I was set on getting that when the time came. But before I was able to purchase one, my brother got it. I rode in the back seat on a trip out to Tahoe, (about a 3 hour ride) and it was fine for awhile but then it felt pretty cramped up after about 2 hours into the trip. I than had the opportunity to drivve it out there on another occasion. It's pretty agile and has ample power with five average size people and a couple of snowboards in the bed. But if your looking to do more than that, with more power and looking for a lot more room, definately go with a S'crew. I did, and I love it! All I could say is test drive both and sit in the back seat and compare the room that they both offer. The choice should be clear. My bro would've gotten one if they had came out as early as his Sporttrac did, but now he could just borrow mine...if of course i'm not having fun with it!

I was looking at the sport-trac vs the supercrew . What made up my mind was the leg room in the rear seat . They claim to be almost identical for both . This may help make up your mind . Sit in the sport-trac and adjust the drivers seat to where you like it . Get out and get into the rear seat behind the drivers side . Do the same to the supercrew . I think you will find a huge difference in leg room . I opted for the supercrew because I carry adults on long trips . I have not had any complaints about leg room .

Part of the problem is that the Sport Trac should have been a 4-door Ranger. But you see, a 4 door Ranger would steal sales from the Explorer, and Ford wants to maintain the sales leader title for the Explorer.

With that in mind... get the Super Crew. Its a pickup, not a fake cross-over thing.

Wink Get a SuperCrew

As a former owner of 3 Explorers, I am very pleased with my new SCrew! It really feels and acts like a truck! The SportsTrac is cute but I think you would be very pleased with the SuperCrew!

ST/SC

Both my wife and I liked the styling and different
look of the sport trac, but decided on the supercrew for rear seat room, access, and bed. I
found the ST to have enough rear seat leg room(though not near as much as the SC), but the rear door is not long enough to allow easy access
for your feet. My feet are not big, but I found it
hard to get them in without hitting the "b" pillar
moulding. I do like the rear power window and the
6 disc changer in the dash, but the Nudo leather in the SC is much better than the leather in the
ST, as is the towing power if you're pulling something heavier than a small boat.

I think ST is an attractive vehicle, but I could never warm up to the interior. And after I drove my sis-in-law's Explorer Sport (inside of which looks pretty identical to ST interior), I had to give it a big thumbs down.

ST and SC aren't really in the same category, size-wise, comfort-wise, utility-wise. I ended up getting '01 Harley F150 and I never looked back. (that is, maybe until next week when I might trade it in for '02 L)
