HELP! How do I mount a flag in the bed of my truck?

Hey guys,

I need some help. I am off to the OSU vs. Michigan game this weekend and I want to mount an OSU flag in the bed of my truck for the drive up.

I'm not sure how to mount it and need some ideas, also pics if you have any.

Thanks for the help.

GO BUCKS!

I have seen US Flags stuck in the rear tie down holes and duct taped in... I have also seen a Dodge truck with one mounted somehow in the center of the bed just behind the cab (probably taped to the front of the bed....

I used a magnetic cb antanne , slid the antanne up through the holes in the flag, stuck the mag mount to the roof, and away I went........... it held till around 130k/h

Man, started reading and thought you were talking about OSU (Oklahoma State University) we play OU on Sat. Anyway, you should buy a reciever that goes into the 2" reciever, buld a flag pole, weld the pole to a big bolt, and bolt the pole to the hitch, like it is a ball. When your done, you could remount the ball and be ready to go.

I had the same thoughts as PhillipSVT on OSU. I thought the Ohio version of OSU refered to themselves as "The OSU"! I have my truck decked out with the proper OSU attire.

Back to the flag subject, the local redneck who parks his truck on his front lawn instead of the empty driveway (fortunately not near my part of the neighborhood) set his flag against the inside of the tailgate and used what appeared to be half of a case of duct tape. His pickup is a Dodge by the way. That figures. I wish he would use his truck to go to a local paint store and buy paint his house. I'm sure that would make his neighbors a bit happier.

Thanks for the ideas. I'd like to try to keep the flag in the bed of the truck so that it's wipping around on the road. I'm afraid I'll get pulled over if it's off the back of the truck.

I've seen other trucks with them mounted in the middle of the bed, but I'm not sure how it's done.

As for the duct tape solution, my truck is too pretty for that! Plus, I'm not a freaken redneck!

Sorry about the OSU vs The OSU mix up. It's THE OSU vs. Meat-chicken. It's always fun going up there, but I think we're going to get our butts handed to us. I hope Bellasari isn't driving the team bus!

does Bellasari still have a license?? ;-)

My Wedgewood Blue/Arizona Beige (couldn't get Maize tu-tone ARGH!) Screw will be at the game as well.

I shouldn't really provide ideas for someone who wants to fly an Ohio State flag, but how about flipping your bed extender forward (if you have one) and attaching it to that somehow? You might be able to tie-wrap a short piece of PVC pipe to it and then slide the flag into it? That would put the flag somewhat in the middle of your bed.

We're going to miss John Cooper's wonderful mug on the sidelines - hopefully Tressel carries on Cooper's legacy. It is always a good game - I do have friends coming up from Columbus as well - the tailgate parties are always a blast.

Buschman,

I thought about the same thing, using the bed extender. I just want to make sure that the thing stays in the bed! The last thing I need is to have the flag fly out of the bed as I drive up there.

It's pretty amazing how many other OSU fans we will see on the way up.

It's me and 2 of my buddies. We have no place to tailgaite, so if you have any ideas of where we can hang out or even where we can park, I would appreciate it!

Last time we parked right next to the stadium, but it was pretty expensive. We were out quick, but it was a bit pricey. We plan on being up there around 9am. Where should we park?

As for Bellasari, I'm pretty sure he'll loose his license for at least 6 mos., plus since he blew over a .17 I think he has to spend 6 days in jail. Niiiiiiiice

I guess we'll see what the dawn of the Tressell era brings us, but I'm not holding my breath.

My bad, I thought the only good team in the Oklahoma area was the Cornhuskers.

Maybe OSU and TOSU will meet in a bowl game this year and it can be sttled once and for all...oh wait a minute OK State isn't bowl eligable...OUCH I bet that one stung a little!!!

It's all in good fun though. I have a feeling that OSU and TOSU are going to suffer the same fate this weekend. One will get whooped by Oklahoma and the other by Michigan.

It sucks to be an OSU fan from either school right now !!!!

You can't go wrong parking at the Golf Course right alongside the stadium. It costs about $15 but there is lots of room and a general party atmosphere.

I looked at how someone had mounted one in the front middle of the bed yesterday in a parking lot. He had 4 holes drilled in the front of the bed. 2 "U" bolts holding his pole up tight to the bed front. it looked pretty solid, but then again, had 4 holes drilled.

Just for the record, OSU (OK State) started the basketball season last week and have already won more games than the football team. Therefore we no longer suck!

I like buschman's idea ... just get some sturdy zip-ties and a 2 foot piece of PVC... strap it down tight to the extender...slip the poll in... drill a couple of holes through both the PVC & the flag pole and stick a pin or bolt through it to keep it from flying out on the road .
