New rear window

I'm getting a sliding rear window installed in my SCrew. My question to you guys is should I keep my old rear window or let the dealership keep it. And if I keep it, is there anybody interested in purchasing it for a really low price? I have neither the need or the space for the regular rear window. BTW I only have 400 miles on the truck so the window is new and it doesn't leak.

Thumbs up Power It !

Hey Guys,
I just had my original slider replaced with a power-slider.
It's AWESOME!
I use it all the time now, where as before I almost never did.
Great mod if you have a few xtra $$$$.

I replaced my manual slider with the power one as well. I bought it at www.oemfordparts.com and installed it myself. Oddly enough, it was only $10 more than the manual slider sells for. By the way, anyone interested in a manual slider for cheap? It is only 1 month old, as I took it out only a month after I purchased my truck.

Manual Slider

Dufunnel -> I've got a '98 RegCab Flareside - is there any difference at all in the rear windows or are they all the same? (I'd emagine there identical.) If so I don't know what shipping would cost, but I'd definately consider it.

WTF??

Hey guys can you believe this? I went talk to the parts guy at my dealership. I asked him what's the difference in price between a manual and a power slider. HE COULDN'T TELL ME?? He gave me some BS about its the same window, but the power slider is just a kit that you purchase for $400 and have it installed. I checked the oemfordparts.com site but I can't find it on there. Can you give me a part number or something so I can go to the dealership and order it myself. "If you want something done right, might as well do it yourself". Thanks guys.

manual slider part number - XL3Z-15422B30-CA $352.89
power slider part number - F75Z-5422B30-AA $361.25

These are both from www.oemfordparts.com from July 9th, 2001.

I was amazed at the prices, especially since the power slider comes with everything needed for installation and the manual one comes with nothing but the window.

Also, I am not positive that all the windows for the late models are the same. I have a 2001. Maybe someone can clarify which years are compatible?

I purchased a power rear sliding window from Earl Owen Auto supply 800-527-2006. The make is CR Laurence and I paid approx. $300.00 plus UPS. The part number is EPC 990S.

Question

I have the manual window in my Screw and almost never use it because I cant reach it easily... always wanted a power operated version.

My question is: How easy is it to install? and Where does the control go?

Install pictures would be nice if some has them.....

Thanks

Question What kind of switch and where?

I have been thinking about this as well for a future mod. My question is what kind of switch does it come with and where di you put it? I am pretty **** about my truck and any switch needs to look factory and good.

Any pics and info is appreciated.

I too am in the same delima. I want to get the power slider, BAD! But I want the control to look like the one in the manual that comes with the truck, where the switch is right by the power adjustable pedals.

I was suprised to see this in my manual, and when I showed this to my dealer he said that he had never seen or heard of it before. After asking around he found out that a place called American Sunroofs can put it in. I'm gona check this out on tuesday and see what I can find out on it.

By the way I like in San Diego.

Power Slider

When I ordered my truck, I wanted to order the power slider. The salesperson recommended I not get it. She said because the whole rear window needed to come out, they had experience with the new windows leaking!

I thought this was kind of funny but at least she was honest! I didn't get the power window.

Ford should offer a power window like the one that comes in the Explorer Sport Track. That would look really cool in the Screw!

No problems with leaks here. If it is installed right, there will be no problem. I even installed it myself and it is leak proof.
