Angry A.R.E. Z-Series Quality?

Anyone out there have a problem as I did with the Z-Series Cap for a Screw? The rear pop-out windows do not seem to shut all the way, you can reach your fingers up around the bottom of the glass pretty-easily. It was a bit disappointing, especially since A.R.E. is supposedly high-quality/high $$$. The paint match wasn't there either. They are sending it back for re-work. What a waste of time. How the factory shipped it with the windows sticking out like that is beyond me. Thank you, I'm feeling much better now.

I've have the ARE Z....window closes flush w/ body but there seems to be a small gap from window to body, but once again it is flush. I've have no leaks and it's been in hard rain.

My truck is highland green and the cap paint came in exact.

Bring yours back and get it worked out right.

Don't worry, it never left the installer's lot. Geeeeeez, these things stuck out so far, I wonder what I could have caught with them just throwin' it in reverse (lol). I wouldn't mind the gap I think you're referring to, but I would like them (the windows) to at least sort of look like they're closed.

I know what you mean. Mine does look closed. I wonder if the **** that turns the window closed is faulty? If you push the window from the outside does it go flush w/ body?

Warranty should protect you in any case...Good luck...

You can indeed push the window corner in at the bottom and make it look right. I think it's more of an alignment problem with the mechanism that draws the window bottom in (via the ****). I'm sure magilla gorilla will be able to 'realign' it back at the factory.

My ARE Z cap windows are okay with the exception of a small water leak in one window where the window frame doesn't look like it was installed correctly. My other complaints are some dirt specks under the paint and the color match is not perfect, but acceptable.

I love the looks of the cap but I'm slightly disappointed in the quality. I hope nothing else turns up.

Thumbs down

As a followup to previous posts, the A.R.E. Z-series for my Screw came back from A.R.E. They were to match up the paint better (sent them my gas cap) and fix the window problem. Well the color didn't exactly come out as closely as I had hoped. The windows now draw in better, but still do not come all the way to the rubber stop (it sits about 1/4" away). It is definitely better than it was, but I'm still disappointed with how things turned out, I had expected better of A.R.E. And by the way, the bed-extender must be detached completely in order to change positions when using it with the Z-Series. If you take delivery of a Z-Series, be sure and closely inspect the rear-flip-out windows, and don't expect perfection as far as the paint goes.

True about their paint quality. I've definately seen better on my LSII. Pretty well built though. I wish I could have gotten a Snuglid in my neck of the woods though.
