Thumbs up Radiator Success!

Follow-up from my original post:
I heard from my dealer today. They ordered the new radiator the day after I spoke to Mr. Mike Moore at Hayward Ford. The new radiator came in yoday. I have an appointment to have it installed this Friday 4/13/01.

Mr. Moore is curious if other parts measure up. He is going to check my alternator and shocks against what should be in my truck. I can't say enough about the great service at Hayward Ford.

Same thing happened to me - I took my complaint to the dealer (he was unaware of the situation) and I had a new two (2) row radiator installed 4 days later after they (dealer) consulted with Ford.

I called my salesman at first to at least alert him to the problem. He told me at first that he didn't remember reading if the truck should have the bigger radiator, blah, blah, blah. I thought I was in for a lousy ride. One hour later he calls me back and say's I'm right, the source book did specify a larger raditor, and he's taking my problem to the service manager. He also has back-up now from other salesman! This should turn out OK. Will up-date later.

Question

This whole thing is just wacky, some of us get a door slammed in our faces after a call to Ford, and some of us get the royal treatment. There is just no consistancy.
I have been reading posts where something is supposed to happen in mid April, but yours is the first to mention a "fix". Did they mean a statement or an actual physical fix?

It was very clear to me that they were going to replace the radiator. Mr. Mooore explained that the fault might be the vendor they bought the radiator from. He wasn't sure that the fix was the exact radiator with the part number I showed him.

Sounds like you found a honorable dealer.
Mine was polite and went along with me, but stopped at the point where Ford said "No Way"
I'm taking a neutral stance on the dealers position.
Please post when you get the "whatever" from your dealer.

Went to pick up my 01SCREW yesterday had the wrong radiator. I questioned my sales guy a his manager, they said they didn't know anything about it? Just sign and we will straigten it out later, I asked them for something in writing but they refused saying they are not resposible for ford. So I said call me we you guys resoulve the issue, but till then I'm not taking delivery.

They just called and said they will fix the misbuild and give it to me in writing!

Received a copy of the invoice my dealer is submitting to Ford for the radiator modification - a whopping $ 596.54!! It is also interesting to note the remark on the invoice for changing the rad namely leaks!!and overheating whilst towing!! I did not notice anything of that sort. Just a matter of interest.

I took my truck to the dealer last week. At first thay said no way. After I got alittle loud and used their computer to sign on to this site and get the part numbers they submitted and ordered the 1.42. It was installed today and I'm finally a happy camper. It's nice to get what you wanted and payed for. Stay in the fight fellas.

Cool

Success, I got the new rad put in today. The first time I asked I got a no. The second time I came with info from this board.

They put in an F75Z-8005-GB 2.20" 2 core. I guess this is better but would have been happy with the 1.42" in accordance with the latest spec. sheet. The Service Manager even took me out to the shop while they where changeing it saying "wow look at the difference in size".

Talking

Had it changed before I even saw it. Thanks to everyone on this board, I copied the relevant information into an email to my sales person. He emailed me back to tell me the Screw had arrived (Ordered 2/25) they had checked the radiator and placed an emergency order for the correct one. He also said they would not release the truck until all the work was completed to my satisfaction. This has been my best experience yet with a dealer. For those of you in south western PA.....the dealer is Shults Ford in Wexford PA. My sales person is Randy. Great Service!

Thumbs up

Update: I just got off the phone with Dan Wiebold, the owner of Dan Wiebold Ford in Nampa, Idaho just outside Boise. He called to say my new radiator was in, a 2.02". I asked why not the 1.42" that is specified for the 2001? He said that when they tried to pull it up on the computer to place the order, the number did not show up...?!
Anyway I am scheduling today for replacement.

Dan also said he has not had any luck in contacting Ford about this situation. The dealers are still being left in the dark.

My hat is off to Dan Wiebold Ford for working with me to resolve this issue.

Good Luck out there...

TRAY, please let us know when you get your radiator installed. I live in Nampa and have been fighting with Larry Miller Ford in Caldwell. I will see if I have better luck with Dan Weibold, but want to wait until after yours is in so I don't screw you up. Please email birwin18@home.com if you have a moment.
