I ended up with the 2.2" radiator also but It wasn't straight forward, so far FMC hasn't owned up to the mess up yet.

After reading about the "small radiator" problem with the towing package, I wanted to look at my week-old SCrew to see which radiator I got. However, I cannot see any number unless (I suspect) I remove the plastic cover. Attempting to remove the plastic(?) screws was only partially successful; some unthreaded, some just spun. Any hints on removing these? Thanks.

 

Had my radiator replaced the other day. when I talked to my service manager Ken agreed that I should have the radiator I payed for. When he called the Ford rep they said not to change it unless the customer was going to complain real loud. Ken told them that he was going to change it anyway. I now have the 2.20 rad. thanks to Ronnie Watkins Ford in Gadsden Alabama.

AirJer: they come out with an awl or a dull blade tip, just pry 'em up while twisting. They don't really need to thread to work, just push 'em in if they're stripped.

There is a label on the driver's side of the radiator you can see without removing the cowl, with a number you can compare. There is tons of info with the numbers on the engine forum. Basically, the first char is a "X" (1.0"), "Y"(1.47"), or an "F"(2.02"). Billy Howell Ford changed my radiator out 4 weeks ago no hassle. Good luck to all getting your radiators.

 

Got my radiator replaced yesterday. Looks a whole lot bigger than the 1.02! PNumber YL3Z-8005-GA. NO PROBLEMS, NO QUESTIONS, NO HASSLES (and best of all, NO CHARGE!)

Had my radiator changed yesterday. 1.42" YL3Z-8005-GA. Very nice installation. Done at Sam Dell Ford, Rt. 31, Liverpool (Clay), NY. Thanks to Service Manager Jeff Pack. He even called me this morning to see if everything was OK. Finally, a good experience.

anyone had the radiator changed around philly, PA?

 

This is my first post with f150online - be gentle. I went to the Ford dealer in Plano, TX last week to see about getting my radiator upgraded and all kinds of fun started. I will leave lots of stuff out to keep it short. First they claimed they could not identify the radiator I have because there is no number on the radiator. The service advisor took the stamping number off the core and said he would have to call the engineers at Ford to cross reference the stamping to a Ford part number. He said it would take a few hours - go home. He called back late in the day and read me a part number and a short radiator statement from Ford that mentioned nothing about tow packages. After a lot of run-around and a general failure to answer any questions he finally slipped that the number he just read to me was NOT crossreferenced to my core stamp - just a number that was supposed to be in my truck. The part # was YL3Z-8005-GA. Very Tricky. I don't trust this guy now.
Here it gets interesting. He called again later in the day with "new info sent to him from the Missouri (sp?) assembly plant". The info references a replacement part # XL3Z-8005-AA. He said that the number doesn't show in any of his computers but he will look into it further.
Yesterday, the parts guy from the dealer called and said my radiator is in. I asked the parts guy to read the part number to me and it is XL3Z-8005-AA (!!). I have yet to see this part number anywhere else on this site. DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW ABOUT THIS PART NUMBER? I will let you know if I find more about it.

xl3z-8005-aa is the 1.02" radiator the standard size not the super cool that suppose to be in there.

I'm still trying to get my change to the correct one, even though I have it in writing from the delivery date that they would? The service guy said that it's a radiator modification and may void my warranty!

I hate these guys!!!!
