CANTEX,

I live in SW D'ville near Danieldale and Santa Fe Trail.

I got the X Plan price through work so there was no bickering over price. I delt with the asst. Fleet manager. Allen Samuels took over for RedBird Ford about two years ago. They are a Blue Oval dealer and have other franchises around Dallas. Good reputation.

When you talk to them remind them you still have the last say with Ford when you get the Dealer's survey. PS - don't fall for the oil change special. It cost me $40 with the filter add on and extra charge for the 5w20 weight oil. I normally use the Oil X Change on South Cedar Hill.

Good Luck.

CANTEX,

I'am also in D'ville and bought off the lot from Allen Samules in November. I think your salesman got you for $399. Mine didn't have it. Truck fits fine into my garage, just the antenna taps the door. My truck is similar to yours except for color.

What part of town are you moving to?

Great news!! The dealer took off almost $700 in charges! I spoke with the sales manager and he had all the etching charges and other B.S stuff I moaned about removed. I got the truck for $30345 plus Tax Title licence only.I does pay to bitch sometimes. Also it probably helped that I had not handed over my $10000 yet Ended up being an additional $990 in savings as the taxes also changed.

Sounds to me for another way for the dealer to add profit. Like the undercoating, sealant, and scotch guard they try to add in my area. They don't really touch the vehicles, but add about 1000.00 for the extra's. I looked at a truck a couple of weeks ago, that had "Market value" add of 1895.00. I just laughed and left. They were giving me the same difference trade wise, just sounded like a lot for my trade since they added another 2 grand to the price. It's all dealer tricks. But your issue with the etching is a new one. I also like how they add the doc fees. I never pay that either. They are 200.00 in my area.

Enjoy the new truck,
RickC

I got BAGGED $199.00, it was listed as VLT on the purchase agreement. Just like DOC FEES. etc. I said to my salesman, what's this VLT (vehicle locator theft)for $199.00? He says the dealership had such a problem with theft that their insurance company insists that every vehicle get the vin number etched into the glass with acid.
I said WHAT A SCAM! This was an ordered vehicle and I DO NOT want it, I DO NOT want to pay for it, etc. No good, no way would they take it off. WHAT A SWEET PURE PROFIT MAKER. Plus the fact that on my rear slider they got acid all over the glass, and now they have to buff it out under warranty.
They first said, we will replace the glass, I said NO WAY! I don't want any laeking whistling etc.

I wouldnt mind the whole etching thing if 1) they disclosed it to me 2)it actually did something my own car insurance did not.3) they charged double what others got nailed for. Either way if they felt like they had a strong case I dont think they would have caved so easy. $200 Doc fee!! that is crazy!! Its $50 on my purchase order( I paid that one)Still wondering what the equipment fee was.

Xtruky, I would have threatened walking away. Tell them to remove the charge or they can sell it to someone else. Then go to another dealer and buy one and drive it by the first dealer and ask them if they like your new truck! LOL
Btw, I love that paint job. I am from Tennesse VOL country. That truck would go over well in this area because it's very close to Tennessee Orange. Go Vols!

I agree CANTEX, they should be more upfront about it. The reason they aren't is because every customer would balk about it.
