I bought a supercrew last night. Its basically a loaded lariat 4x4 with the 5.4. No bed extender and no moonroof I could not wait for an order so I took it of the lot. Looks to be the 3rd gen. Its bright red with gold bottom and lariat stripe. Light tan interior. Bought it for invoice minus the $500 rebate they had this month and 6.9%. Got a bit pissed though with the $399 charge for the glass and parts etching (premium care anti-theft?) . it was $30879. Thought it was a good deal at the time but I'm sure they stuck it to me somehow!! Either way I plan on enjoying this truck and hope I made the right choice.

CANTEX----- What does $399 for glass and parts etching mean. I have never heard of that before.---------------Do you have the class III Tow Pkg. if so how thick is your radiator, it should be 1.42" thick. Most Supercrews with Tow Pkg. have the wrong radiator, (1.02" thick) Enjoy your truck, sounds really nice

Not sure about the 399 glass ecthing. Sounds like you could have avoided that charge, but enjoy your truck.

 

Yeah I think they threw it in there to make some money off me! First they tried to sell me running boards at $500 and I said "no". They never asked me about this I only noticed it when I arrived home. It is some kind of security etching for anti-theft, you will get a break in your insurance with it but I still would not have asked for it. Have the towing package but I have seen post here that the smaller radiator is the correct one according to ford? I dont think I'm going to sweat that one. Just bought a House yesterday also so I have to much to do!! Anyone fit there 4x4 Screw into there garage with no problem?

Cantex....Congrats on the truck purchase, sounds like you got a good deal to me. Honestly though, no matter how good of a deal I've negotiated, I always felt like the next guy probably did better. Could it be the reputation of car dealers has something to do with this? Enjoy that new truck!

How true ZACH. I actaually live in Dallas now myself and purchased it from Allen Samuels in Duncanville. I felt great but then the next day I started to have that feeling that no matter how good of a deal, they got you some how. I called about this glass etching stuff. It is already on the truck from the factory and $399 is the price of the program. I asked them to remove me and give me my $399 back. Sales guy said he would "look into it".

 

Cantex, your truck should fit in the garage. I park in the garage with no problem. Just to let you know, I work in Car sales. We have the etching on all of our vehicles, but they did not come that way from the manufacturer. We sell the etching for 299 and it is a security device against experienced car thiefs. It is called Phantom foot prints, and we put it on our cars ourself and give the customer the option to enroll in the program. The program basically gives you protection against theft and if the vehicle is stolen, the phantom footprints company can pay out a total of 8,600 if vehicle is not recovered. This is on top of your own insurance. Not a bad deal for 299, but like I said, it is an OPTION from us. Anyway, sorry for the long post but you should be able to get out of that charge. Just talk to the right people. If what your salesman said is true about the etching on the truck from the factory, then why was my truck left out??? Good luck getting your money.

 

I found the reciept for the Secure Etch Silent Guard Security System in my folder from the dealer. I was a bit upset also because I don't remember signing this. It's a carbon copy, I'm sure the top page I initialed was something different. I think this is just another trick. No wonder they worked so hard to get me to buy this truck even though it was a Z plan. Mine was $249, but only pays out $5,000 if my baby is (God forbid!) ever stolen. I guess in conjunction with my insurance it's not so bad, I just wish they had let me in on the deal in the first place, I would have liked to have had the option to "just say no"!!!

 

Recently purchased a 2001 1/2 Supercrew (Silver/Blue XLT 4X4 Loaded w/ ,m. roof and towing pkg). I asked for every option without going to the Lariat and never heard about glass etching. I am interested in it though, if offered to me I would have taken it. In regards to the garage, mine fits nicely until Dad comes to visit. The garage had to be built big enough for his Excursion. As soon as I hear the V-10 enter the drive I know Trucky has to sleep outside .

Just talked to the finance guy. He is telling me it is not optional and that they put it on all there vehicals that come on the lot. I am a bit pissed because they slid it in there with no mention. It is not listed on my invoice or sales breakdown. My price just magicaly jumps up $399. Looks like my plan is much more expensive also than the others Yes I know it can give me insurance discounts but all the things it appears to cover are already covered in my auto insurance. The plan says if my auto insurance has simular coverage thay wont pay out! Anyway, thanks for the replys and either way I love this truck.

I'm in the Hillcity area. Lots of trees an hills. I exit at cedar hills of I20 I believe. I move in this weekend. How was Allen Samuels to deal with? Do they have a good reputation? I am going to meet with he new cars manager after work to see if I can get that etching charge removed. It does not cover anything my car insurance does'nt. I hope they are not going to be stupid about this.
