Docker,

Yes, it does apply to Gen 1 Screws. Friend of mine has a Lariat with everything on it including TP and he got the 1.02" rad. which is wrong. His is being replaced as well.

The part number is on the pax side of the rad and a little white sticker. Look in ENGINE section of this website for part numbers. If it says XL---AB it's wrong. You want YL----GA which is the 1.42".

Well after a trip to my dealer about my radiator, I'm told by them that there is only one radiator for my truck and there is no other replacement for it.

This is a large dealership in Texas and this is the first news they haved heard about the wrong radiators. They had very little interest in my documentation. All they cared about was the part number matching an engineering inquiry through my VIN number.

They said they could not replace it unless FORD came out and told them too. And for me to contact FORD customer service. They did give me FORD phone number 1_800 392-FORD

Well, my friend and I, both had our radiators in our Supercrews' replaced today. It is quite a bit meatier. Glad I did it. Good luck to the rest.

SSG57, your dealer is seriously stupid. If you haven't, go to Engines on the website and see all the particulars on the radiator issue.

I had my radiator replaced today without any problems. I picked up the truck just a few moments ago, checked the thickness roughly (it's too dark outside) and came up with 2.3". It is substantially bigger than the old one. I have not received any documentation, but same will be mailed to me.

Posted this in the Engines thread but cross-posting here. For anyone who has collected any written data, especially from dealer parts books, sales guides, etc., I would appreciate it if you could send me the information at:

It took me 3 weeks just to get My dealer to send in a misbuilt truck complaint.

How in the hell can some of you fellow 150 owners go in show documents and get the 1.42 inch radiator?
My dealer will not put in the sc radiator without ford paying for it.
My service manager even said he thinks I should have the 1.42 inch radiator. But he did remind me when I first brought it up (about a month ago)to save yourself a headache and forget about it.

Another usefull link: this one takes you to the Ford site where you build a vehicle online. When the site opens, click on model
on the left side, then packages, Class 3 trailer tow group is displayed and on line 7 it says Super Engine Cooling ( Radiator Upgrade ) yes, it actually says that in brackets. I tried it with the 4.6 and 5.4 selected as the motor, and the rad upgrade remained.

Everyone, if you can, please email me your name, your truck's type and options, when it was purchased, when it was built if known, where you live (address and phone number - these will not be used except in connection with legal action regarding this matter), and where you bought the truck (dealer name and location). Also, if you have been in contact with your dealer and either had a new one installed or been refused, please include that as well. jwright@law.harvard.edu
