My story
Triton46,
The area damaged is about 14 inches wide and 12 inches long. It's like something scraped over the back of the roof. The dented area is about the size of the palm of your hand. The rest is just scraped paint. I couldn't see any bare metal showing.
The dealer is probably the second largest dealer in a 50 mile radius, and have been in business for 20 some years. I've dealt with this dealership before, they've always been sincere in what they told me in the past.

I did not check my roof when I picked up my Crew. At the end of the week I found that I had dents in my roof. So back it went they took some photos, called two days later and said to bring it in and got me a loner car. I made them take the rear window out, rope the seal on the front window so that the paint goes out to the edge and take out the head liner so they could get to the dents. Now it is all fixed with no sign of the problem paint match and body work is great. Can't tell.
I would have the dealer fix it first see if you like it or not.

The sad part about a new vehicle is, "its never if it gets damaged, but when!" Sometimes that's by an accident, hail, tree limbs, vandals or even by the owner. (That's a killer) It's eventually going to happen, and I don't think there is much you can do about it, but fix it properly, and move on! Take the view Robin Williams had in the "World according to Garp", when the plane flew into the house he wanted to buy. He said "We'll take it!! What are the chances of this ever happening to this house again!!"

If they will warranty it on paper, I say let them fix it. Compensate you for it. Being on the top is the best place for dent to happen. It's a big bummer though.
Bottom line: It's alot of $$, make sure your happy.
I love mine! 'Sold my first class Harley to buy it. No regrets.

Do not get the truck!! Order a new one, they can not get mine right. Rear paint damage on one fender, painted once must take back again. It will never be the same. Go to " Quality is job one" to read my story, it SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
