soft tonneau cover
Fun Island Blue:
That cover looks good. I'm interested in getting one, but would like to know a few things.
Is it lockable?
Is it difficult to remove?
Does it leak?
How does it look when it's open (any pics)?
Does it take up much bed space when open (any pics)?
Can you drive at highway speed with it open?
How much does it cost? (If you don't mind my asking.)
Thanks for any info you can give me.

crewboss,
The Access Roll-up cover can be locked via a slider lock (no key) on the right rear inside. It is a plastic clip attached to the rear rail that slides over when closed to prevent the cover from being opened. If you lock the tailgate then you cannot get the cover opened. If someone tried hard enough I suppose they could break it or simply cut open the cover but it at least keeps someone from easily opening it.
To remove the entire cover and hardware would simply require the removal of the 8 clamps on the side rails (4 per side). These are loosened with a wrench. Once they are loose you could lift the entire assembly off in one piece but you would need probably need someone else to help due to its size (not weight). Otherwise you can break it down into the 2 side rails and 1 front rail by loosening 4 screws at the front (2 per side) which is the way it comes for assembly. You could probably remove it yourself (breaking it down into 3 pieces) in under 10 minutes.
As for leaks there are a few areas where some water does creep in. In the front at each corner there is a small opening. I have not noticed this to be a major problem. At the rear corners there is also a small opening which again does not allow in anything major. Where I notice the biggest problem is due to the SuperCrew's tailgate. I do not have seal put around the tailgate and when I go through the car wash I do get some water in the box at the back of the box. If I sealed the tailgate this would all but disappear. The car wash is a good test because of the pressure involved. I do get a misting of water in at the front corners and it gets a little wet at the back due to the tailgate. When it rains I do not notice anything inside but I have not driven on the highway in a rain storm.
When the cover is rolled up there are 2 quick release staps that hold the rolled cover at the front of the bed which keeps it in place for driving while opened. The cover is about 6" in diameter when rolled up. There is a front rail that extends about 3" into the bed. The cover sits on top of this and the space between the bed and the rear window very nicely.
The cost is about $450 (online may be cheaper). It's much more pricy than a standard soft cover but it is also easier to open/close, looks better and is more secure. If those are major issues for you as they were for more then its worth it.

They have some pictures and also links to online resellers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info Fun Island Blue! I would imagine the car wash is a decent approximation of driving through a rain storm. I was mainly concerned about major puddles forming in the bed. As with the ability to lock it, it also sounds good. Let's face it, if "they" want to get in bad enough, they will.
I'm obviously concerned about anything taking up any more bed length, since there's little room to spare. I don't think 6-10inches will keep me from getting my 3wheeler or lawnmower in with the tailgate down. I'll have to look at that more closely, which I can't do yet since my Screw will not be built until next week!!!
