You can have the extender added to your order (if it hasn't been "locked in"), and it shouldn't hold it up. The current delay is for two-tone paint on Lariat models. My dealer confirmed this for me today, after talking with vehicle order processing.

plraf,

Nothing, it IS easily removed. I am planning on not leaving it in the truck when it is not actually being used.

Doug.

Ok. Who has received a SCrew with the bed extender??? Lets stop all these vicious rumors! Is it stainless or aluminum? Is it like the brochure or "squared off" like the AMP research unit? We need FACTS here! I'm sick and tired of all these lies and half truths. We need just the facts from someone who has the d@#% thing, not a rumor from one of us wannabees!!!

Well, I have to start by saying that the Ford extender is UGLY, I think I'd rather use bailing wire.

Nonetheless, to answer the original question on this post...My Rhinoliner guy preserved the holes so I could add the thing at a later date.

Regarding the BULLS&*T prices at the Ford parts counter:

I got my truck off the lot on day one availability from a bad credit orderer. It is exactly what I wanted but for the "Cab Steps" not being ordered. Sticker price---$250. Parts price (Sales dept cost, which means retail minus 20%) is $230/side!!!!!!!

Freaking ridiculous! And they aren't even lighted like the Expy's!

I'm pissed but stuck. I don't care for the Nerf Bars on the truck...great for my Wrangler...But not for my 4 year old to climb in and out of the truck.

I readily believe Ford is also robbing from us for their Ugly bed extenders.

But I really do love my truck.

Joe

Question

Another idea. I came across this site the other day, I'm not sure if this is a possibility for the supercrew but it does look less like a beach chair than the official Ford extender. I've no idea how good this one is. www.expandabed.com

I just picked up my SuperCrew today and my dealer ordered me the factory stainless bed extender like the one in the brochure for my truck for dealer cost. You have to make sure that you order the bed extender and the mounting brackets. The bed extender and the mounting brackets dealer cost was $248.
When you pick up your truck (before you sign the papers) tell your dealer that you want the bed extender and mounting brackets for dealer cost.

skyjet,

could you get a part number for it. i checked at two different part departments and one quoted me $504 (that was for the aftermarket looking one) and the other said the extenders were not available yet.

a part number would help. thanks.

USAF K9,

I went back to my dealer today to get that part number for you (needed a reason to drive the truck). The parts man told me that there has been a real mess up on the bed extenders. He said before you could order the bed extender but the mounting hardware didn't come with it. But there was no part number for the mounting hardware. So Ford has come out with a new part number that comes with the bed extender and the hardware together. That number is:
1L3Z-84286A40-AA. I asked him if it was the same one that is in the brochure and he said "As far as I know".

He said Ford won't be shipping the new part number for another 3 weeks. So I guess I won't know for sure until I get mine.

I would still try to get it for cost when you pick up your truck. I think it will be the same. I will post info here as soon as I get it and also on my web sight. www.over.to/SuperCrew I added a couple of pictures today.

Ford bed extenders really do exist.
I picked mine up today. You can see more detailed pictures at my web sight. www.over.to/SuperCrew
It fits and works excellently.

If you can, I would recommend installing the bed extender before you put in a sprayed in liner.
The part number is: 1L3Z-84286A40-AA.
Off to Line-X tomorrow.

Looks great! I'm glad I stuck to my guns and kept it on my order even though it caused a delay in getting built.

I'm thinking of getting a bed RUG instead of a liner - I wonder if the extender will be interferred with by it?

mazilis,

I'm not familiar with the bed rugs. I just had Line-X spray in a liner today. It looks great. As long as the bed rug doesn't cover the mounting posts, it should be OK.

Skyjet, thanks for the pics! I was still wondering if the extender in the brochure existed. Your's is the first one I've ever seen. Im still waiting for mine from the dealer. Is it aluminum or stainless steel like the brochure says?

Skyjet:

The pic of your lined bed is very nice. I'll be getting a Line-X as well as soon as I get my truck. It's hard to tell from the picture, but, did you get the standard black, or, is that a dark grey liner to match the bed rails?
