Thumbs up SS Step Bars

I just installed some Better-Built "Bull Dog" SS step bars. The polished SS finish is excellent. They were easy to install (less than two hours including lunch) bolted up without drilling any holes, the instructions were complete (even if the the pictures were not very clear), and the the mounting system is "industrial strength" with brackets attaching to both the body and frame. The only complaint is the mounting nuts, bolts etc. were not SS. The cost was $425 at the local truck store, so they may be cheaper through a ".com" supplier. Their Web Site is: <http://www.dawsbetterbuilt.com/showitems.cfm?subcatid=14>
Will add pictures to photopoint later this week.

Hey Supercrew....I have the exact same truck but with the 17" tires and 10 spoke aluminum rims and have been wondering what to put on for boards, steps or bars.

Please post a picture of your truck with the step bars on it as soon as possible...sounds like they are the deal and very keen on seeing how the crew looks with them on....especially with our color combination!

Deep wedgewood blue and silver are the perfect colors!

Thanks Supercrew and look forward to the pics!

Cool

2001,
I should have pictures posted on my photopoint site tomorrow or Wednesday. I just added a shot tonight of the Line-X bedliner.

4Door,
The step bar is 6' center to center on the bolt holes. Which means the overall length is 6'3". The rear turns in about 4" in front of the bed gap. If your exhaust tips do not go underneath the cab itself you will have sufficient clearance. The part number is 94878 and was NOT listed on their WEB site last time I looked. The label on the Box reads "2001-Current Ford F-150 4 door crew cab"

4Door:
How do you like the Gibson exhaust? Where did you get it? Where doyou get the best price and service? Was it the SS system? How was the installation? Did you do it yourself? If so, did you need to put it on a lift? I'm ordering the dual side exit SS system. Thanks for any info.

SuperCrew, I ordered from truck performance.com $279 with free shipping. It's not ss, part #9516. It was very easy to install, it took less than 45 min. I couldn't be happier, looks great. I drove the truck up on ramps to get a little higher. The instructions are very good. I shopped all around and that was the best price, make sure you tell them your friend got free shipping or they will charge you. Good luck - mark

I've added some pix of the Nerf Bars and hardware on Photopoint. Use hyperlink below.

4Door,
Thanks for the info. I ordered the SS Dual Sport from Summit. Same price as truckperformance: $476 delivered.

Thumbs up

Great looking pictures, how is the Bug shield installed. Is it bolted, and is it easy to clean underneath it?

Exclamation

Correction:
I am now advised by Summit that its a backorder item and it will take a month. So I cancelled and re-ordered from truckperformance (who has now reduced their price)to $435 delivered (they say w/in 1 week). Stay tuned...Well see how they do.

Bugshield is attached with screws into clips under the hood that fit into existing holes. There are two outer clips that slip over front lip of hood (3M clear tape protects the paint) This keep edges of shield from vibrating or deflecting at high speed and possibly hitting hood. You can clean/wax under shield easily without taking it off. There is no drilling and you can remove shield by unscrewing the 4 screws under the hood and pulling off the two outer clips and removing the tape. If done carefully, all can be reinstalled on another truck. Just need to get another couple pieces of the 3M tape. This is a clear shield that was back painted.

Cool

I first saw the bugshield at a local truck parts store. http://www.capconnections.com/
It looked sturdier than the lund interceptor. It was about $115 including being painted to match. The EGR is an Australian Co. with US HQ in Ca. Their site is: http://www.egrinc.com/home.htm

SuperCrew,

Can you give me more information on your bugshield? Where did you buy it? Part number? How much did it cost?

I want a good wrap around deflector, but I don't like the Ford factory shields. I've been looking at the Lund Interceptor, but now I'm curious about the EGR "SuperGuard" bugshield that you installed.
