Question Super Crew rebate?

Has anyone heard about a rebate on the SC? Seems that after the smoke clears and sales slow alittle, maybe they will lower the interest rate too. I am holding out for now but I can't take it much longer. : ( Longing for a SC 4x4 Toreador Red with all the goodies. I feel that I am probably fooling myself right????

There has been "rumored speculation" on this board before about a possible rebate, BUT in my opinion you won't see it for quite awhile for a couple of reasons.

#1- Ford doesn't need to do anything to spur sales of this truck! The initial fury created when few vehicles were being shipped has subsided, and dealer stocks have grown, BUT if what I see here at the local dealers is true everywhere, dealers are selling all of Crews they can get at better than average margins still. Why mark them down?

#2- The SuperCrew is a 2001 model. There is no reason to expect normal "end of model year" rebates/incentives/financing when the current model has over a year of selling life left in it!

My guess is factory deals will be available when:

#1- Ford is ready to clean up inventory of the 2001 model alittle over a year from now, or

#2- Other manufacturers come out with Crew/Shortbed versions of their popular selling trucks (Ram or Silverado) and Ford starts feeling the competition.

Just my .02!
(Hope I am right, since I expect delivery in about 2 weeks!)

The 4-door truck market is going to get crowded this summer.

The new GM 2500/3500 series will sport 4 doors - along with more available options and power choices than the Ford. These trucks will eat up some of the the high-end and the work truck segment.

The mini-truck market is going to explode this summer. While not normally competition to the fuller size F-150, a $5K savings and better gas mileage will lure a lot of buyers away from the F-150.

Both GM and Toyota will have a 4-door mini truck (Toyota soon to be supercharged). The 4-door Nissan will get an available supercharger this summer also.

Add to that the already available Dakota and Explorer Sport-trac. There will be talk of the release of the Avalanche (minus the wild body panels) in early 2001 which will hold buyers off for awhile.

Im already starting to see more Supercrews on the dealers lot than on the highway. A lot dealers in my area have seven or eight just sitting on the lot. You can get the at or near invoice now.

This Ford door crack problem will probably hit the fan this summer (all of our F-150 worktrucks have this problem). Even though the 2001 doors have been re-designed, Ford's lack of a solution for existing owners is sure to scare even more buyers off.

Ill bet we see Ford offering some kind of financing/rebate deal this summer.
