Talking Love @ first sight...and I pulled a fast one on the dealer!

Hi all-

As I've posted earlier, my silver metallic 4x4 F-150 SuperCrew (w/ 5.4L engine, 3.55 Lim slip, skid plates, towing pkg, 6-CD changer, (plus aftermarket brush gurard/winch, Rhino Lining, dog box, etc.) is on order from a broker. $500 over invoice, including the undercoating and installation of aftermarket stuff thrown in!

Well, to spec out the dog box, I had to get the exact measurements of the bed, as it tapers in 5" or so over the 66" length. The local dealer got their first one in today, but it had some shipping damage, and needed to be worked on prior to display. The salesman told me that I could come down and he'd take me over.

Brochure in hand, I avoided the sales department, walked into the bay and asked a mechanic where the SuperCrew was...flashing the brochure and saying that a salesman had told me that I could check it out. He said "be my guest!" and pointed me there.

WOW!!! Some vehicles are attractive, cool, etc. The SuperCrew was breathtaking. Love @ first sight. Needless to say, I got my measurements and got my tail out of there. I'll have nothing to do with sleazy half-men who try to hustle every penny out of my pocket! $32,000 without options, plus fees? Absurd!

Can't wait for mine to arrive!

Question

If you could post the measurements it would be greatly appreciated. I need to make sure my quad will fit in the back with out slashing the tires. I know the bed extender is required for it to fit, did you happen to get measurements for that also? I really only need what ever the smallest measurement is across, looking at the brochure it looks like either the tailgate or the extender.

Man,

All this talk of brochures! My dealer looked at me like I took the bus in when I asked him for a SuperCrew brochure when I ordered mine a couple weeks ago. I went to the Ford web site to get one and it says no availability for like 6 weeks! Man! I want to have something to drool over while I'm waiting.

Bronco86,

My the measurements I took were for the specific purpose of mounting an over-rail toolbox type dog kennel/tool box combo.
The distance across the outer flat (not the extreme outside- just the flat surface) of the bed rails @ the cab end of the bed is 70", while @ 30" down toward the tailgate, the same measurement was 68".

Based on info I got from my brochure and MSN Carpoint (check out www.msn.com and got to the Automobiles page) states a 5"6" bed, extending to 7" with the extender, 50" across @ the wheel wells.

For a direct link, try clicking on this (I hope it works):
http://carpoint.msn.com/vip/Overview...erCrew/New.asp

If your quad is less than 50" wide from tire to tire and less than 5'6" (or 7" w/extender), you won't have a problem.

I hope this helps!

There are two supercrews in my office park, a white, and a red one. The Red looks much much better(in my opinion)The white one looks more boxy, the red makes the cab look shorter.

Not braggin or anything (Yeah right), but mine is sitting out in the driveway. If any of you have questions or need measurements, email me at jeff1128@yahoo.com. I have been looking for a bedliner for it, but cant find one yet, if anybody hears anything about an underrail bedliner for it, let me know.

Took the wife and 3 kids "car" shopping last night. Test drove a Taurus, then asked the sales guy to take the SuperCrew off the display ramp so we could take it for a ride. Let the wife drive it; her vehicle is a 1999 Harvest Gold Windstar. The SCrew had everything I wanted, right down to the color (okay, Bright Red was my 1st choice; see UserName for reason) but Harvest Gold was #2 (hides the dust from the gravel roads in our area). Needless to say, I pick up my new SCrew on Monday afternoon. MY first brand new vehicle in over 15 years... I deserve it!! I leave for the woods of northern Wisconsin Tuesday after work. Yee-ha!!

You guys are making me jealous! I can only dream of my SuperCrew. Can't believe it's been less than a month since I placed my order!

I spoke w/ my broker yesterday- they ordered my WARN XD9000 winch, along with the bursh guard, wrap around extenders, mounting accessories, etc. plus the quick-detatchable mount for the rear winch. I'm still getting quotes from aluminum dog kennel/tool box manufacturers.

WHEN I finally get the truck, I'll have quite a rig to transport my bird dogs, hunting/fishing/diving buddies and girlfriend(s)! Just one more thing before that- I need to decide on my 6-letter vanity plate...

America- you gotta love it!
