How much better gas mileage should I expect with a tuner? I wouldn't mind a little extra H.P also but not at the expense of mpg. I'm past the point of having to prove that my truck is better than others so I don't have to have all that extra speed. Don't get me wrong now, the extra getup and go is great for getting on the highway or for passing some jerk that just pulled in front of you and then slowed down because either they are on a cell phone or reading a book.

how fast is that going?

i have 35's and a 6" lift with the 4.6 and heres about what i get.
highway:
64-65mph= 18.5mpg
80= about 15mpg
>80= about 11-12mpg

in the city i have gotten anywhere between 11-15mpg

i have noticed a big drop in my gas mileage in the past couple months, dunno if its becuase its more stop and go traffic or if its cuz of a change of the gasoline

I've got an 02 with the 5.4L, 9 Inches of lift and 37's. Tested the mileage yesterday and I got 18.9mpg at 68mph. With the gear/tire combination I have the RPM's were at about 1900. I also have a cold air intake, throttle body spacer, and a Superchips programmer, but not sure how much all that helps for mileage.

Trying to improve mpg from 13 mpg - about 2 months ago, I put a K&N intake, and aeroturbine exhaust on in July. Also changed spark plugs after reading tips on this forum and many prayers. The mpg improved only about 0.5 mpg. Most of my driving is on the highway and honestly between 63 and 73. I've noticed improved horspower - but find that the shifting seems to be overreving before going to the next gear. It seems to be out of sync. I asked a "Ford Truck Guy" at the local parts house about it and he said I might need to use a tuner to readjust the onboard computer. Before I spend anymore $$ to save $$ I'd really like to know if this will work. The same guy told me doing what I did would get me closer to 20 mpg - so I'm really not convinced this isn't a load of you know what. Anybody out there have any advice or experience to share?
Get a custom tune. That should help a vast amount, and unleash even more concealed power in the engine.

Thats incredible, very good economy numbers for that much lift.
