so i have a sunroof and the stupid dome light on top rattles when you hit a bump or close the door.is there any way to make it stop?

The above worked for one of my rattles in the headliner. I can't reach the other rattle through the dome light, though.

I tend to draw out my projects intentionally. A couple of beers to get the dome light off. Half a beer to unplug the harness. Another beer to cut the foam I used... You get the picture

I just bought an '04 FX4 with sunroof a few weeks back. Mine had the annoying headliner rattle from the start. Last night I took my dome light out and found that there were 2 foam blocks, but they were only secured to the headliner, not the metal frame. I used extreme hold velcro that has sticky backing on each side to attach the blocks to the metal frame. My headliner no longer moves up and down and the sound is totally gone.

One rattle down, 2 to go - steering wheel/column and transmission/drive shaft on the down shift.

To remove dome light:

Remove the plastic cover, by pulling down gently (it's held by 3 tabs - 1 front, 2 back), then use a flat head screw driver on the 2 metal tabs at the front of the light to pull it down from the front and out from the back of headliner.

 

There are several TSB's on head liner rattle in the 2004-2005 models with the moon roof. Just take it to the dealer. They'll fix it for free in about 5 minutes.
