Rough idling - 700 mi on new Screw
Rough idling - 700 mi on new Screw
My new screw is idling a bit rough. It's nothing that's seat jarring, but it is rough enough to where I do feel some small vibrations a tad in the seat. Is this normal breaking in or should I take it in to the dealer already? Also, what does your tach read at idle?
Thanks in advanced.

My screw does the same thing and it has 700 miles on it !
my tack is at 500 when at idle most if not all my cars idle at 800 to 900 rpm I wonder if that is part of the problem? I use shell plus gasoline ,and I'm on my second tank hummm!

All 7 of the F-150's I've owned have had a small vibration when in gear (drive) and idling at a stop. My '07 FX4 idles at about 450 RPM. At such a low idle, I would expect some shudder now & again.
The quality of the fuel in your tank may make some difference in how the engine idles. Brand of gas means little as it all meets the same spec's. The only difference is additives. Quality of fuel has more to do with the condition of the station's tanks and water content floating on top of the fuel in the tank.

My '05 5.4 has just over 44,000 on it now and still has a slight shudder/shake at idle, dealer and independent shots have said it's nothing to worry about. It's been doing this as long as I can remember, as well as a few friends with other F150s.
