Well after 1489mi, today I finally floored the 5.4 3v!

Today while merging onto the highway, I look down at the odometer, 1489mi & I say well this 5.4 3v has been broken in enough to finally put the pedal to the metal. I floored it & the 5.4 roared like a lion, I look down & I am up to 85MPH in no time, & merge into the high speed lane, & people see this ROARIN, 2007 blue SCREW comming quick from behind them & they scoot out of the way. I though the engine pulled nicely to 90 MPH & then I backed off, back down to the 65 MPH limit. My impressions about this motor is that it powers this heavy truck very fine! I notice that my new engine seems to run smoother by the day, & that the mileage, esp highway is improving nicely! To anybody that I have seen post about the 5.4 3v lacking *****, I say, "What are you *&^%$ talkin about?"

I had to chuckle when I read this. I added the California version.

I floored it & the 5.4 roared like a lion. I look down & I am up to 85MPH in no time, & merge into the high speed lane. People see this ROARIN, 2007 blue SCREW comming quick from behind them, & they "hit their brakes and start driving 10 miles under the speed limit and never", scoot out of the way.

CR@P!

I've got the 4.2l V6 with the 5 speed... talking about smoking the tires... I remember when I got my '99 with the 4.2 5spd, and after 2k on the odo I decided to do a mondo burnout... woooohooo, it was fun, and pretty nice for a stock v6. I can only imagine what that 5.4l has to put out.

hrmm...I've punched mine a few times now. I don't know how you could wait 1500 miles. Although I'm waiting for 500 to really give it a go, but for the most part I've been driving with a light foot.

It's true, pretty much nobody in California can drive. Funnily enough, pretty much nobody is originally from California anymore either.

You guys are loving your trucks now, put some tunes on . See what you think then!!!!

haha, I just did this the other day. 17xx miles on her, decided I waited long enough. But have been noticing more power since I picked her up with 7 miles on the clock.

Guess I am one of those that says it lacks *****. Try flooring it from a dead stop, and I bet it doesn't move as fast as you think. What did you drive before the truck? I still am disappointed in the acceleration of my truck from a dead stop, but I realize it's a heavy work truck and not meant for speed. Have to through this in for all the posters that will jump to point out its a truck and not a sports car. :-(
