I have an 03 and i have no problem laying a sheet of 4x8 ply wood in there. It just barely fits in the width of the open gate, and with the gate down, it is to the back edge (top) of the gate....

Ive done it atleast 3 times i can think of off the top of my head....

Sure they dont fit, thru the hardware for the bed extender, but its doo able...
Maybe you have a bed liner, that makes the bed 'smaller' because its thick...

I do 4x8 sheet goods with my Crew all the time. About 6 inches hangs over the tailgate. Big deal. 12 foot sheet goods are no problem either. 16 foot would be a no go. That is what delivery is for.

Ive done a 16' 6"x2" before... I just lashed it to the edge of the bed extender, and then ran down the passenger windows, and lashed it there.
No problem.... Next?

The problem is still your fault. Take the $1000 shell off and you can haul that grill standing up and tied down. Or, laid down against a closed tailgate. Camping? Again, just lower the tailgate.

if you want a car by a car or mini van to transport people, IF you don't get a truck with a 8ft box, any thing else is a compramise.

Kinda grows on you, after a while.

Put a nice camper shell/topper on there, and you really got something.

So, other than liking what a truck looks like, why did you get one?

Why should it "have" to carry a 4 X 8?? I don't and never plan to carry one. I have a hard cover and carry tires, for my shop, golf clubs, luggage, etc.

Why is a 4 X 8 the measurement for a truck??
