Question about Rihno lining the bed

Hey. I'm looking into buying an F150 supercrew 2003 or 2004, whatever I can afford once the wedding is paid off. I'd like to Rihno line the bed as I think boxliners do more harm than good. I had a boxliner in my 96 f150 and over time it stripped all the paint off my bed. I'd like to know if I Rihno line the top of the bedrails and put a canopy on will water leak in because of the course surface? Should I keep the liner under the bed rails?

ryno lined my 2004. they put the lining up to the bottom of rail caps. don't have a top but to me i would think that the cap would cover the rail caps and not have any problem keeping rain out. just my 2cents worth. out. b.d.

Good question. However, I don't know. Personally, I think spray in bedliners look much, much better sprayed under the bedrails.

Won't the supercrew you are looking at have factory bed rail caps?

I would look at Line-X sprayed liners. At work I have two f-350s with rhinos and a 06 King ranch with line-x and a gmc sierra with line-X, In my opinion the line-x is a much better product. The two trucks with rhino have spots that are pealing off and the finish dosen't look as good after a few years. the line-x seams to hold up better.

Thanks. I don't know if these trucks have bed rail caps as standard equiptment or not. Guess I'll find out when I get one unless anyone else knows. As for getting it lined would it make a difference in peeling with the thickness of the liner? I've seen some guys with the lining that looks paper thin and I've seen others that looks close to 1/4" thick. I see they advertise different thicknesses for the applications. I'm assuming the cause of peeling would all come down to how good the prep work is (clean and degreased) before it's applied.

I don't think it is very durable. It can cut and if water gets in I have heard of a truck that the bed ended up rotting out. I'm spraying my bed with signature lining. It is a tougher material but it's more slippery.

if your rhino lining is peeling, you got a bad install and should go back. It is gaurenteed, and it is tuff stuff. It is resistant against chemicals, and shouldn't be cut easily. I know someone who does the spraying of this and I have taken a piece of the lining and put the most extreme chemical combinations on it that you could think of (bases and acids) at the plant and it held up perfectly.
rhino line is life time gaurentee, take it back and make them fix it.
it's not easy to cut. If your's got cut, again you got a bad install and I would take it back. They probably didn't spray it thick enough or prep right.
you won't go wrong with rhino or line-x IMHO.

Friend of mine has Rhino, been back twice in less than a year for repairs (the repairs are also noticable). Additionally it started to fade, another$100 for some kind of sealer to retain the color. I do not have line-x but they do look better in Pics.

I believe that all 2004 + F150's have the bed caps on them however I am not sure about the 03s. Even so, I would not spray over the bed rails. Spray underthem and get a nice set of bed caps to stick on that way if you ever change your mind you can peel the caps off. The spray on liner won't be coming off. As for a liner, I have line-x and am very happy with it so far, beat the heck out of the drop in that I had on my old pickup.
