come inside to say hello to the newbie (me)
Hello Everyone,
I'm a first time truck owner and very happy with my experience. I bought a new '05 F-150 Lariat Supercrew a couple of weeks before Ford began their family plan sales promotion. But don't fret folks...I got a better deal then I could have under the family plan.
I don't have pics of the truck but it's two-tone white with lower beige accents. The best thing is the truck runs solid on the highway (it's my daily driver).
A complaint I did have involved the sluggish feeling of the motor. It simply felt like reduced power given the 5.4 liter should be capable of 300 hp. The dealer found an update to software on the PCM and it's made a world of difference. I now have to re-learn to feather touch the gas pedal or it's quickly off I go down the road. Also, the software update greatly improved my fuel economy. I use to struggle to get 17 mpg on the highway at 75 mph but now I can get 19 mpg at 75 mph. If I feather the pedal at 60 mph, it can get 22 mph.
After slightly more than 2 months of ownership, I have 5500 miles on the beast.
I noticed the owner's manual has different description for the CDN and US fuse panel because of the daytime running lights. Does anyone know if it's simply the case of putting in a fuse into the panel to activate the daytime running lights on the US trucks?
Also, I'm thinking of adding more reverse lighting. Has anyone tied aftermarket halogen lights (placed underneath the rear bumpers) to both the reverse lights and the auxiliary cargo bed lights?

Congrats and welcome. The first thing that you should learn about this website is the "search" button. The questions that you have asked would be easily found with a search since they have been covered on this board before.
Your daytime running lights should be controlled either by your rear view mirror as they are on my Eddie Bower Explorer or on the dash. My F150 Screw has a setting for daytime running lights on the switch which turns on the lights, fog lights, parking lights, and the daytime running lights (automatic lights). I really like this feature because I hunt big game. And when traveling to the hunting area one wants to get there just before dawn and if you have daytime running lights on you scare the game. So I just turn it off. Yours probably works in a similar manner, check it out! Glad to have you on this forum - it really is informative!

Thanks for the replies.
The mechanic at dealership wrote something in some strange language on a sticker and stuck it to underside of the hood. I can't read the letters or numbers if anybody's life depended upon it (the mechanic must have been a doctor before switching careers). But as far as I know, there's no sticker on the passenger's door post. Perhaps I can borrow the fiance's digital cam over the weekend and post a pic of the mechanic's sticker.
I went to the dealer, explained the situation the truck could be outrun by a 4 cylinder 80s something car on it's last gasp of breath, had no guts for brisk acceleration and basically would not downshift when needed to accelerate while moving. The service manager looked confused, went for a drive, he drove it, understood the truck was not performing anywhere near it's capacity and started to look for PCM updates. That's all that I know about the situation. I can tell you the results are so much better than before.
