GPS System

I'm looking for a GPS/Navigation system for my SCrew. I'm not interested in the "On-Star" crap GM has.

Cool

Pioneer makes a nice set-up that includes navigation, rear view camera input, MP3 player, CD player, DVD player, etc.

All the bells and whistles, including a "dashboard" that reflects speed, RPM's, etc.

Pretty cool, IMHO.

$1999 I think...

Pioneer unit at Crutchfield

I have always loved the Garmin units. Garmin Web Site

The Pioneer ones look pretty cool as do the Alpine ones.

Wait til this summer. the Pioneer AVNC 2 is comming out and has XM NAVTRAFIC (Trafic information on the GPS display) so you can get arround those areas that may have issues.

How elaborate do you want Maroon'd?

As you've seen, these things can go from several thousand down to some decent handheld GPS units that can give you pretty good street level mapping for around $200...

Garmins are great, and very easy to use. I got a Megallen for mine it mounts like it's oem ford and gets power from the radio. It replaces that space on the dash thats for what, a sunglass holder or something?

That looks about what I want. Can you give more details? What model is it and what did you have to do to install it. Drill a hole, take out the raido? Is the screen big enough?

I got it new on ebay from (rocknrollxm). The screen size is not the size of a double din screen but you can see it no problem. It is very easy to install yourself. It took me a little under 20 minutes. It is a simple pulg in, no cutting wires or drilling. It replaces the panel on the dash. It's the Roadmate 760 in a custom mount made by Brandmotion. rocknrollxm seems to be letting them go for 1,000.

Looks like there around $1200 now, must be the higher gas prices.

Does the unit replace the dark plastic tray that sits on top of the dash?

How do you like it so far?

Anything you don't like about it, or wish it would do that it dosen't?
