Does the unit replace the dark plastic tray that sits on top of the dash?
How do you like it so far?
Anything you don't like about it, or wish it would do that it dosen't?

It does replace the tray completely
The only down side is it's mapping is programmed in and not cd based. I don't know yet if it can be updated or not. So any road changes won't show.
I am happy with it and glad I bought it. I didn't want to change out the radio. I also didn't want to lose the steering wheel controls by going with an aftermarket radio. But thats me and if you don't care if your radio is stock or not, those double din nav. units are nice and do more. They also have upgrades available.

Other questions:
Your maps run from the DVD player?
It's a single CD player?
Installation is easy, or requires a professional?
I noticed from your picture gallery that the phone is gone, does the Eclipse handle that as well?

Do you know of any reviews or articles explaning the operation of the Magellan?
Are all the Magellan Integrated Ford F-150 Navigation Systems the same model?
Does it need the antenna or is it fine without it?

This little device taps in to the factory control wires and utilizes the Eclipse's wired remote input to allow you to still use the wheel controls. Crutchfield sells them as well - $60
No, it doesn't come with the head unit.

I don't think presently any other models are integrated for the F150 to date.
The only model I'm aware of is the Roadmate 760 it's the same as the handheld unit that has been available for a little while.
There is an internal antenna in the pod.

If you don't care if your radio is stock then I'd go with what RockPick has. It's probably close to the same money. Plus you should alway be able to get upgrades for road changes. In my last truck I had a Pioneer AVIC-N1 (all in one). It did everything. Played dvds, gps, vehicle dynamics mode, rear camera and voice command and the list of add ons was crazy-- xm radio, tv turner, cd changer, nav traffic, you could add more monitors and so on. I really liked it. But I want to keep my stereo stock. I have the stock audiophile system and it sounds good. So I'm not spending any money in it because I know if I replace the head unit I'm going to buy speakers then amps and so on.
If you don't want to upgrade your stereo buy it you'll like it. It looks like ford put it in. And if you pull up to another F150 at a light they take a double look at it.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
btw, if you do get it take the radio out to get to the connector in the back. It'll make it a lot easier. The instructions show you unpluging it with the radio mounted. what a pain in the as5 that is to do. You can't see what your doing. 4 screws and its out. Piece of cake.

My current GPS
My wife gave me a Garmin GPS 10 for our last anniversary. I like it, but I plan on getting an in-dash unit eventually.
Pros: portable - can be taken out of truck for walks, moved to different vehicles, etc; made by Garmin; stores map data on SD cards; tons of POI w/ distance and direction from current location; add-ons include topographical and marine. There are others, but those are the ones that interest me. Water tight (they say it can be submersed briefly, but I’m not testing it).
Cons: screen isn't big; audio is ok (you can barely hear it if the A/C is on MAX); had trouble w/ the DC power cord for the GPS 10 unit until a new design came out from Garmin; GPS 10 doesn't like the heat.
If I leave the GPS 10 in my truck during the day, packed away in the carrying case (old cassette tape case) I have for it, and then attempt to use it, it flakes out due to the heat. The only way I've found to get it to not do that is to take it inside every time I get out of the truck. So, I end up riding around with an empty cradle hanging on my windshield most of the time. If it does flake out, I have to wait for it to fully discharge the battery, charge it back up again, and then it will work fine. It’s quick to pick up satellites, has 12 GPS channels, and is pretty darn accurate in plotting my position. All in all, I like the unit. I just want something a little more “factoryesque.”

Couple more pictures in my gallery. Use the link below.

Maybe install a DVD player in the back. I have a handheld Garmin and I know the value of being able to update it. After reading the manual on the Magellan I find that you can download software that will allow you to create your own POI's. They talk of future firmware and software updates but don't give model numbers that are included. It has a USB port so it looks like it may be upgradable, wish I new for sure.
Maybe you already seen this but if not check it out.

Yes, that's the web site of the Magellan that is fitted for the Ford F-150.
