Noisy Windshield Wipers
The rain we were supposed to get came overnight so by the time I got up it was over. Bottom line, I havn't used them yet. There's a forcast for rain tomorrow so maybe I'll have a chance to try them soon. I did end up having three of the adapters not work properly (wouldn't lock onto the wiper arm). Thats 3 out of 7 that failed - a pretty high failure rate. I called Silblade and they are sending me more adpaters. I talked to one of the managers at Silblade and told him I noted that the 9mm hook adapter (the one I needed for all 7 blades) looked different than what was in the instruction sheet. I also had 5 parts vs 4 as shown on the instruction sheet. He indicated they had made a slight change to that adaper and that the 5th piece I found in the package wasn't needed for my installation. He wants me to call one of their engineers after I get the new adapters and talk to him about the problem I had. I think they are hoping they don't have a big problem with these new adapters. If you don't check to see if they are locked on (by pulling on them) they could come off while your driving down the road. Not a good thing to have happen.
I finally had a chance to try the Silblades in both rain and snow. They work great. My wife and son also said they saw a big improvement. Now, if they last even close to what they are supposed to they will be well worth having got. Silblade sent me about a dozen adapters to replace the 3 bad ones I had. Great customer service.
By the way, the snow we got was my first excuse to use 4WD. It was awesome.

Glad to hear that you liked them. I had a strong hunch that you'd probably have that opinion though...
I have to agree with the customer service too. They're VERY good!!!
Enjoy those Silblades and let us know if you have any other questions or comments!!

Will do RP. I love this forum. Lots of great info and there's always somebody out there that can help. Its like a big extended family. The only problem I have is that my original list of mods for my truck grew greatly after I found this forum and I've spent a lot more than I would have ever thought. O'well, what good is money if you can't spend it.
Sorry, to dig up an old post, but has anyone tried the Barkeeper's Friend to clean their windshield yet? I've got something on mine that I've had ever since putting on cheap silicon blades. I think I'm going to get some Barkeeper's Friend and try it, or maybe Comet, or something...
Well, I didn't have a chance to get any BK's Friend, but I did try a little Easy Off oven cleaner. I just put some on about an inch circle, and it appears to have done the trick. I let it sit for a minute or two then washed it off. I may try a little bigger spot tonight...
Hey to let you guys know, I did a trick my dad told me about and it worked great! Basically what you do is take a crescent wrench and place it on the wiper arm and give it a slight twist (I went upward with the wrench) so the wiper blade is no longer sitting at a 90 degree angle to the windshield. It Doesnt take much of a twist to quiet the blades. If the blades are at a slight angle they work better and dont skip or chatter across the windsheild. Super easy, took me all of 5 minutes at the gas station while waiting for my tank to fill. So now, no chatter or windsheild wiper noise at all...even with standard rubber blades. Hope this helps some.
