The real benefit is what the light pattern looks like. Doesn't anyone have pictures of before/after or normal F-150 next to Xenarc lights on a wall, or road? Who really cares what they look like on your truck in the daylight? That is not what makes them worth $500.

I have some pictures and I know this sounds like a lame excuse but, the camera simply doesn't do the Xarcs justice. I won't post the pictures that I have. Cameras will pick up light at just about any intensity and show it brighter than what it really is. The pictures that I took are from a distance and aren't up against a wall showing the varying intensity.

OSRAM Sylvania's Xenarc website really does it justice when they show a regular halogen and then a Xenarc HID picture in a loop. I know it seems extreme to think that you get that much more light output however; the bottom line is that YOU DO. Plain and simple. Here's what I'm talking about...

I know that seems 'extreme' but, it's really that much difference.

Here's a good link with good info... http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htm

The Xenarcs, from a 'look' standpoint, look very similar to the Lightning heads.

L heads front... Xarcs back

So, IMHO looks shouldn't be an issue. If you like the L heads, you will almost definately like the Xarcs.

They're worth every last penny and I sincerely wish that I had dropped $800 into them when they first hit the market. I spent $500 but, they're worth every penny...

Just a thought, with the 04's finally hitting the lots, I expect to see alot of the aftermarket goodies specifically for late model F-150s to start dropping in price... I think that might be the case for the Xarcs... again, just my opinion.

I have a bunch of 'daytime' pics of my Xarcs in my MODS gallery... feel free to browse.

Whats this about DOT has stopped the importing of HID conversion kits???

As posted on the front page of http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com

Is this true???? I was thinking about getting some but not right now, now I wonder if they are going to make them Illegal.

I found a few links on this...
http://www.petitiononline.com/hidforum/petition.html
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/rulings/glare.html

Found these links here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show.../t-397489.html

As for me living in San Diego I see quite a few cars and the occasional SUV with the HID lights. The HID lights are not the problem. It's the other lights like the halogen replacements (like mine) improperly aimed. I admit that I had mine too high at first but re-aimed them. The few complaints I have against the HID lights is that the diffrent color they have is distracting and that I don't have them. But again the ones I hate are the idiots who jack up the front of their truck for that (baha "looks like crap most of the time" look), plus their are those who simply don't care and sdjust their lights up so "they" can see better.

We had been discussing that one up in the Electrical Forum a little while back... at this point, it appears that DOT has requested comments on the matter however; has not made a decision.

I would suggest that someone request the source of the information from brightheadlights.com because, to my knowledge, they ARE NOT illegal and thus, why would they make importation of those units illegal? Just seems like the US Gov would be severely controlling trade internationally... I mean, were they importing these from Cuba or something?

Sounds like they just want to sell more stuff and faster. I especially like the "It also might be a good idea to buy two sets due to the fact nobody will be able to supply replacement parts."

Now i'm sure that if you had to you could order bulbs and stuff directly from Sylvania.
