OH MY GOD...this is the absolute final straw. I should buy a friggin Chevy now.

well guys....youve seen how anxious Ive been to get my new truck that I ordered...well today *I* (not the dealership, mind you) called to see how long it might be.....only to find out that Ford is not taking anymore orders and that my order had been cancelled. On top of that....the dealer tells me all he can do for me now is try to locate one again (didnt work the first time).....back to square one? are you *******ing kidding me? Ford doesnt even want my 30,000 dollars now? They dont make enough black trucks with the basic options they claim are "available"? I swear to god Id buy a chevy if I didnt think they were so ugly. Im so thoroughly disgusted with the whole truck buying process and Ford Motor Co. right now I could scream. (and have.)

This is BS.

Go to Fords website, www.fordvehicles.com, go to F150 and build your own truck. Then it will let you search dealers inventories for trucks like what you built. You can expand out the search area quite a bit, maybe you can get lucky and find a vehicle in an existing inventory that you can live with.

I say switch dealers. Shouldn't be hard to find one. You can alway's put down an order on a new one!

Being in business, I've found that small PIA transactions are sometimes not worth it. $30,000 means squat to them.

I agree. I couldn't get my local dealer here in south Louisiana to do squat for me. I went across the border to a dealer in Port Arthur, Texas and they located the truck I wanted (black, loaded) in Lufkin, Texas in nothing flat. They handled all the paperwork, got the truck transferred over to their lot (no cost to me or effort on my part) and picked me up at the bus station when I came in to close the deal. I got a lot better terms as well.

I agree - find another dealer. I find it hard to believe they can't find one that's acceptable to you, the dealers around here are LOADED with Screws. I'm talking 20-30 or more on each lot (one dealer had 68 in stock or on the way). That's probably why ford has stopped taking orders...too much inventory and need to retool for the 04's.

There is one out there somewhere... I promise you that. Switch dealerships and see if someone else can locate one. If they can't find one, switch again and try again.

I know there's one out there... it's just if the dealership is genuinely interested in finding one for you.

Yep - find another dealer. I was in the same spot as you about this time last year. I couldn't locate a vehicle locally, and the "customer service" at the dealers locally wasn't worth a d@mn, so I spent HOURS online looking through inventory in 8 states until I finally found one that was pretty darn close. Heck - I probably searched your local dealer, since MS was one of the states!

If you are willing to travel to get it, you will find it. I ended up handling everything over the phone and drove down (about 3 hrs) on a Saturday morning and picked up my truck. You just need to decide how far you are willing to go.

Oh yeah - the same dealer (in TX) shows 5 black S'Crews on the lot right now.

well...Ive been racking my brain and options...and I have two:

I found a truck about 3 and a half hours that has all the options I wanted except heated seats (woulda been nice...sigh) but the price isnt as good as the first deal I found....

or I can go back to this original dealership...they said they can probably find the truck I wanted except in two tone instead of solid black...and POSSIBLY their body shop can take the two tone off..(is that even possible to take off a two tone without repainting the whole truck?) the price would be a little better but theres a whole lotta more maybes here..and Im ready to DRIVE one.

what do you think I should do? (and do you think a body shop can take off the two tone for a reasonable price?)

CoachP,

I agree with the others. SWITCH dealers immediately. Believe it or not there are some good dealers out there willing to go the extra mile. Do not give up hope yet!

It's possible they sold your truck to someone who offered more for it. As for dealer trade, keep in mind that all dealers don't trade with all dealers. The dealer your talking to may only trade with half dozen dealerships in your area. You on the other hand can buy your truck from any dealer you are willing to drive or fly to.

Don't worry about price. Just state what you want the price to be. Tell them the price you have worked out with this dealer and ask the next dealer to match it. Remember, you are the one with the cash to buy a new truck. Not many of you out there these days.

Most sales managers will ask for another $200, so you may want to decide if you want to factor that in or pay it.

And hey,,, have fun with it!

If a dealership has the truck, they should be able to match the deal pretty close to the original deal. I would say that you should get the truck you want or as close as to what you were looking for and go to that dealership and get it. If you don't want two tone, then don't try and have them take it off... I don't even know if that is possible.

If I were you I would go for the one that doesn't have the heated seats. Come on, this is a truck. Don't be a ***.

Johnston Ford-Mercury in New Boston, TX (just outside of Texarkana). This is the only one that looks to be solid black. Let me know if you want to check with them on it - they have a toll free number that isn't listed on the web, and I can give you the name of the salesman that I worked with. He was very good to work with.

Coachp,
If you are interested in coming to Texas for your Supercrew, Chapparal Ford in Devine, Texas has 9 Black SCrews on the lot per Ford inventory sheet. Might want to call if interested. (830) 665-4461 ask for Sonny. Him and his brother own the place. I do not work for them.

Regarding the seats, or the "pre-heaters" as my girl refers to them.
I feel they are a luxury tantamount to the (r) console fridge I keep my cold n frosty's in. Cold for hot, hot for cold, and so on.

they are readily available aftermarket, I believe in the neighborhood of $300 to $400 per pair of seats.
