Question vibration noise......

O.k. guys here is a question maybe someone can help me with...I have a 2003 SCREW and when I start it up when cold it has a vibration sound at about 800 rpm .It sounds like it is something against the firewall between the engine and cab. After it warms up, when you put it in gear it does it at about 1100-1300 rpm. The dealer put a piece on the exhaust because they thought it was resinating from there, but that did not fix it. If anyone has any suggetions I would appreciate it. It is hard to see back behind the engine and firewall of the cab (no room) to see if any lines are tapping the cab, but maybe someone has had this issue on theirs.
Again thanks for any help........

Angry

My truck does the same thing. It drives me nuts, I love to say to people "check out the new ride.... never mind the noise". Once it warms up the noise stops?????? Let me know what you find.

Same Here!!

My '03 Screw is making the same vibration noise when cold. Goes away once it warms up. It's very irritating! Hope somebody finds a fix. I will be contacting my dealer about it next week. My power steering pump is also getting louder by the week and I am also getting a high pitched whistling sound through the vents when I have the switch turned to FLOOR. Lots of interesting little noises.

Count me in for unwanted noises/vibrations too

I have some of the same crazy stuff y'all have. In addition to the 800 cold vib I have... Some kind of drone/moan/hum all the way up to about 1900 rpm just before the tranny shifts. A howl/whine coming from the exhaust at light throttle input and at slow speeds (definitely exhaust since it goes away when I let off the accel pedal). Sounds like the power steering pump is making noise. Sometimes the whine through the vents. Catalytic converter rattle - dealer said "they all do that" and he almost got hit.

Let me know what y'all find and I'll try to do some research myself.

i had the same prob on my 02. mine was coming from the big plastic peice on the top of the engine that says 5.4l. put some double sided tape under it the thick kind like weather stripping.and no more noise. next time u crank it up when cold pop the hood and have some one put there hand on it while ur inside.

mudd1:

Did you add the padding to the places where the cover bolts on or somewhere else on it? I thought it had rudder spacers in there as stock? Either way, I'm going to check it out. Thanks!

My dealer replaced the power steering pump.

Kenny2wheels,
I had a similar noise in front of my dash. Several folks replied with suggestions/remedies/other problems to my post. Check it out:
