Smile Road to SuperCharging

Hello all,
First time to post on this site. Thank you for your time.
I have a 1999 F-150 4.6l Sport w/ dual flowmasters that I would like very much to improve its performance, and have some fun while doing it. I would like to end up with a supercharger. My question(s) is should I start right off with the supecharger, or should I start by installing an airflow system(air Raid,K & N), new headers, SuperChip and so on and soforth. I am new to this and I just don't know what approach to take. I would like to upgrade all fasets of fuel, airflow, ignition and so on, but is this the way to go? With the Supercharger what other mods need to take place? I guess what I am really asking is where do I start, and with what products to get ther most out of my truck. Also, do you recommend the Superchip or one of the reprogrammers?
Thank you for answering a neophites questions!

Welcome clhoover!!
I don't see that the other mods really matter which you do first, second etc., but from a money point, if you install the air intake now, that will have to be removed when you install the supercharger. Also the Superchip will have to be reburned when you install a blower and possibly again each time you do certain mods to fuel and air system. It's not cheap to reburn the chip.

If you start with the Supercharger, aftermarket blowers are pretty complete kits that come with most everything you need and if you stay around 6psi, you won't need any mods. Higher boost pressures = more mods.

Im sure crash will be along shortly to answer your questions better. but i would say that the best way to go is to start out with the supercharger and then get mods that will help it out. like bigger injectors, throttle body, fuel rails, mass airflow sensor, ect.
headers would be a good thing to start with too, since they will be compatible with any supercharger. an electric fan conversion is another good mod. two things to stay away from if you plan to get blown are new intakes (most chargers come with thier own intakes so you dont need an aftermarket one) and underdrive pullies (they will throw off the boost on your charger, and are not reccomended). I would also hold off on the chip untill you get the charger to avoid unnecessary reburns. but if you get the chip from crash or JDM i believe they will give you 2-3 free reburns..... anyway.... good luck with you build-up.

man crash you are always teaching me something new. i didnt know that about the ATI. let me know when you find the right underdrive pullies. another thing.... lightningforceperformance sells 2 shift kits, one is the level 10 and the other is the factory tech. what do you think of those?? and also... is it necessary to run a chip with the shift kit? because i was going to get the kit now but hold off on the chip till i get the charger. also, is the fan you sell the JDM unit? because i want to get an electric fan that wil work with my ATI. i know you said that the dual 16s from flexalite will require the tubes to be modified, but will the JDM fan work without any mods? one more thing..... will the bigger tranny pans that the L guys use work with the regular 5.4 tranny? thanks so much for your help.

i answerd some of my own questions about the shift kits.... i discovered that shose kits are for a diffrent trans... cant remember the #. but i still cant decide between the baumann and transgo. and i think i am going to order the electric fan from LFP because it is $50 less and the water pump is cheaper there than it is at JDM. crash, if you are selling these parts, as well as a shift kit, let me know because i would rather buy the stuff from you to support the R&D that you are doing with the ATI!!!! shoot me an e-mail letting me know your price for the JDM fan with AC control, the high performance water pump & the shift kit that you sell.... I will be buying ati from you at some point. but im not sure when. i want to wait untill you have the whold package together with the intank pump, fuel rails, injectors, MAF and a superchip code. once i am done i want my mods too look like this

Electric fan
high performance water pump
shift kit
ATI
intank fuel pump (increased flow)
high flow fuel rails
42lb injectors
90MM MAF
superchip with custom code
headers and exhaust (havent decided what i will use for exhaust)

and so far i have none of this!!!!! i better get to work.

well, i believe i am going to join the group buy soon. once i am definately signed on i will give you a call. I am not sure how soon i will do the mods... i guess it depends on the price. but i think i will save up and do everything at once so i only have to do 1 reburn. but, dont worry crash i will definately give you a call.
