Question should i change puley?

New bigger fuel pump is installed because 255 lph was only good to 4900 rpms. Tune was started with 3.40 pulley. 3.00 pulley died at 4500 rpms but had more gotten end. I have a 3.20 pulley, so should I try that pulley when I take it to tuner to have tune adjusted for new pump? 255 was only good to 4900 rpms before leaning out. I have added extra idler pulley to setup to help with belt slip. What do you guys think?

That's funny, cause Troyer told me the 255 was good to 500 rwhp. Not on my truck it ain't.

whats the part number please? how much did you buy it for?
I should have gotten that pump, I replaced my fuel pump with the same stock fuel pump 2 months ago..

JDM think there is only 255 and nothing over, their next upgrade is twin 255..

Visit Walbro's website. All of the in-tank 255lph pumps GSS340, GSS341, and the GSS342 are rated at 500+hp. If you visit the Mustang forums you'll see those guys pushing 500+rwhp on the 255lph Walbro's.

A 255lph pump delivers about 410lb of fuel per hour so that's enough to feed about 750 crank hp with forced induction (assuming 0.55 BSFC) and yours is likely 0.6 or higher and 900 crank hp NA (assuming 0.45 BSFC).

Your right about what they say the 255 will push, I'm just sayin on my truck it crapped out at 4900 rpms. I was instructed to upgrade to the 340 which is what I did.

It's a AEM pump. Part # AEM-50-1000. Crash got it for me through FORE Innovations.

This is a forged engine, equipped with a D-1SC, a 3-core IC, and is at 15 PSI. We are nearing the limit of pump gas until I see data.

JBravo- Let's get back on the dyno and see what it does at 15 PSI when we give it fuel. Then call me and we can go over the next mods. I do not want to give up what you are making due to belt slip. With the idler mod installed, do you see any belt dust? Are you thinking you want to increase boost prior to tuning, and do it once? I understand this, but I simply would like for you to call me so we can discuss it. You KNOW I am available. Let's get a game plan first.

Ensure your dyno has as much airflow as possible across the intercooler. I want to see IPW. Would love to compare your last dyno with the latest after the pump is installed. Also, if we lose control of charge temps (NOT inherent characteristics of the 3-core), we could end up losing power as boost level increases. We have tested the IC you have with an F-1A, and it should support 700 RWHP. I think you are fine with it... .

There has been some debate on what the Walbro will support. I am not going to re-enter the debate here, because this truck's rev-limit was set at 5000 because it went lean on top. But different companies say different things. When it comes to fuel systems, I consult Fore Innovations first. Fuel systems is all they do. John's tuner did this for a reason.
There is no belt dust showing anywhere. The smaller 3.20 pulley was my idea, but I was going to call you first before I even took it with me to have truck retuned. I suspect tuner is going to want to do the same thing you mentioned before even trying it.

Your guess is good as mine.

Called shop to set up appointment and mentioned pulley change. He said let's check tune with new pump and we will talk about pulley. Didn't sound like he wanted to change pulley until he checked tune using the one that's on the truck right now. So you were right once again Crash. You must be a mind reader LOL.

An 06 5.4 is a 3 valve. Returnless system.

Here's a nice little write up of what it takes to make one of these 340 pumps work in the return-less system such as we have on our 04+ trucks. Not a mod for the faint of heart. And be ready lay some money down for tuning. I don't mean that as a discouragement to anyone just a heads up of what your getting in to.
