Heres some mods you can do to your trans to really wake it up and make it last.

Yes. Do the j-mod and drill the plates. Or you can spend $300 bucks for a performance valve body that someone else has done this to. Mine is setup this way and I love it. Removing the lower accumulator spring for the 1-2 shift and the accumulator spring for the 2-3 will provide some awesome shifts. You can tune these to be harsher or softer in the tune. I prefer harsh. The other mods will improve flow and lubrication.

Is there a document specifically for our transmission? I'd rather have a spare valve body so if I don't like it I can swap it out

I don't like rock hard shifts that rattle my *****.

In that case just remove the lower 1-2 spring and the 2-3 spring. This will provide crisp shifts that will save your clutches. Not neck snappers. Any further adjustment to firmness + or - can be made with your SCT handheld.

Funny story. I told Darrin at BC Automotive i wanted his nastiest valve body set up. He sent me his satndard kit which is the mods you read about in the link I posted. He said if that wasn't enough he would send me a different one that would hurt. I tried the first one. Nice clean crisp shifts, trans felt like a new animal. But it wasn't what I wanted. I said send me the other one. He did and I liked it. Still not enough. I said whats next? He said pull the pan and drop the his accumulator springs out. I did and shes perfect. Churps the tires on a half throttle 1-2 shift. 2-3 is a powerful fast shift and I love it.

I had a transmission shop adjust my shift solenoid a half turn. Big difference. JDM tune is very firm shifts to begin with, especially the 1-2.

Yes. On the stock unit just remove the lower accumulator spring and leave the upper for the 1-2 shift and on the 2-3 you remove the existing spring.

Are the 03 trannys able to have these mods done? I'd love to have some firmer shifts and possibly save the life of tranny components also!

So am I going to swallow my teeth on a shift?

I'll for sure look into this. Not interested in chirping big heavy tires....not good for the weak bits

Where did you find your drive shaft at?

No not at all. I think you will be very pleased. And don't forget the firmness can still be tweaked in the tune or with the handheld SCT device. I purchased my driveshaft from driveshaftspecialist.com down in Texas. Great to work with. Paid $650 shipped if I remember correctly.
