Problem with my kenne bell Harley

Have a 2001 f150 HD with a kenne bell super charger and the belt squeals on the pulley. It acts like the charger pulley is harder to turn when it's running. I've put new belts and even tighter belts but no luck. Any ideas?

how easy is it to turn your supercharger pulley without the belt on it should be fairly easy to spin if not the supercharger might need some work

if the supercharger is fine i would look into the idler pullies that help the belt get more of a wrap around the charger pulley

http://www.lightningforceperformance...ulley_Kit.html
something like that not sure of your exact setup tho

a little more info would help too does it squeal constantly or only under high boost

It squeals when I start it and any time I give it gas. The idler is new. With the belt off it does spin pretty easy. I'm dumb founded. It has one idler pulley and is driven by the alternator. The guy that had the truck before died in a plane crash and I don't know what all has been done.

Yes I will get some pics on here tomorrow. The charger prob has 180k on it and very well maintained. The motor has 230k and runs and looks like it just came off the assemb line. Thanks for all that chime in!!

It should have it's own belt, at least all of the factory supercharged Lightnings and HD's had one belt for the SC with one tensioner and 2 idlers then another for everything else.

Doesn't matter the KB and Whipple both use the stock pulley's and idlers.

Like in this pic you can see the 2 belts used on the Lightning and HD SC's. This is from my old Lightning. If yours is not like this it might have been a NA HD turned in to a SC truck.

fellers, he more than likely has a N/A motor with the POS non intercooled KB 2.2 on it that drives from the aux pulley bolted to the alternator...

and it's the alternator or KB is starting to fail - hence the issue
