Whipple Custom CAI (PICS)

So this weekend I finally laid up the CAI for my Whipple. It is no where near complete. Have to finish the lid, paint it, and install the 4" flanges for the ducts. Here are some pics. She is fed via 3 each 4" ducts. 1 from the hole in the fender where the Whipple kit normally breathes from and two additional ones which as of right now are run just behind the grill. I have toyed with the idea of removing the fog lights and routing them there. But I don't think I will.

The groove in the side is for the radiator tank hose to rest in.

Thanks. Its not hard. A little resin, fiberglass, and a little creativity.

Thats one of the things I hated about the Whipple CAI. It collected all kinds of crap from the fender which is nornal. However it is a bitch to clean. Now I can lift the lid and vaccum it out when I clean the truck.

I've been contemplating a similar setup. I think Im going to fab it up out of aluminum . I thought I would make the ducts in the Roush chin spoiler functional. I removed the tow hooks long ago. I'm working on mocking up two scoops to fit behind the spoiler openings and running some tubing from there up to the box. You did nice work with the fiberglass. Update the pics when you consider it done.

Well she's done!! Except for three hose clamps. Thought I would only need two but the one for the filter broke, go figure. Anyway she is breathing through 3 4" ducts. One out into the fender as the Whipple did and two additional ones in front breathing behind the bumper. Let me know what you think.
