Pulley questions?
Pulley questions?
hey guys I am looking to do a pulley upgrade next and I am a little lost. Ive been looking around and I see both pulleys for the lower and upper. What is the real difference? It seems like either one will give you added boost. Also how much boost can I run on my current set up (just under 8lbs) without doing any damage? I havent been to the track once yet, the truck is more for show, beating dodges at lights, and showing off with burnouts from time to time.
I found this company today is anyone has any imput on them?

was thinking about going with their 3.10 (+3lbs) or 2.93 (+5lbs)
Thanks for the help, I would have done some more research on this before posting but I am sort of in a rush for time and was looing for some quick answers.

Thr Roush tune is adaptable to run a +2lb pulley. I would put either a 2lb or 4lb lower pulley on and have it custom tuned. You can get rid of the big heavy pulley and replace it with either a 2-peice lower or 1-peice lower aluminum pulley. Check Ebay, I have seen them on there used for good prices from time to time.

I suggest you go with a lower pulley. I am partial to the Metco brand as that is what I ran on my Lightning and Cobra. They are a quality piece.
I do not know why it is so, but every S/C'd vehicle I have seen on a dyno with a larger lower pulley has made more torque over an equally sized upper.
And as tarajereme states, the uppers with their smaller diamater tend to expedite belt slippage.

Would the crank pulley be the same size and bolt pattern on a 4.6 mustang and a 4.6 F150 for a 2003 model? Both are modular motors and I was just wondering if anyone knew. I know the mustang is 6.5 inches and I'm not sure what the standard is for a 4.6 F150 with a 6 rib system. Can anyone provide any insight?
Thanks,
Brian
