I really wonder what troyer did to your truck....

A strong aftermarket tensioner will fix that problem though.

I finally got dyno tuned by JDM down here in houston... Did 460rwhp on pump, and 500 on a 93/100 mix.

Im not having any problems with breaking tensioners but do have an issue with belt slip. (Saleen blower with 3.0 & Mosaleen idler pulley set up). Did the UPR/Roush/Steeda tensioner solve any body's belt slip? Im getting a chirp on the belt at shift points & if I rev the motor it chirps/slips when the Rpms Peak and then fall off.

Did you upgrade to the larger water pump pulley.. like off a v10 excursion?

I run a 2.87 with the mosaleen and have no problem with belt slip.

No I never changed the water pump pulley. I'm sure part of my problem is I'm running the same belt with my 3.0 as I did with the 3.2 but from what I can tell that pulley swap puts you "in between" belt lenths. One seems to be just a touch too long and the other, well obviously just a touch to short. I was hoping the stiffer tensioner would maybe solve the problem rather than having to break the tab off my stock one. I just hate to "rig" a way to make it work, I'd rather do it right. Do you know the outer diameter of the excursion water pump pulley. From what we have discoverEd all the 331's have different pulleys on them, for whatever reason it appears they just grabbed the one closest to them when they put them on so there is no rhyme or reason to them. I may have it, really no telling. If it's bigger though that may take up the little bit of slack I have

Thanks man! That looks like exactly what I need, an "adjustable" tensioner. It says it's heavy duty, anybody here have any experience with one? Curious if it as thick and as good quality wise as the UPR ofthe thumperr?

Thanks for posting that link

I have the UPR tensioner and a gatorback belt, along with an 8 rib setup, the gates belt would chirp on me and squealed when wet (puddles and such) days later it would still squeal, after installing the gatorback I have not had any noises or slips that I notice.

To bring an old thread back from the dead. I had belt squeal issues and ended up needing to replace my tensioner. Went wit the (expensive) Thump RRR that 88Racing posted a picture of. Its an amazing piece of work. Its HUGE and took care of all my belt slip issues. I bought mine through Robert but I didn't get a pulley as they are $40 more then without a pulley. Highly recommend if anyone else is having issues.
