Check out Metco's website. That may help you understand the interchangable pulley system. The +2, +4, etc. is the approximate lbs. of boost over the stock pulley.

The L came with 8lbs of boost with a 7.5 in lower pulley.and a 3.1 inch upper if I remember correctly. The way to make more boost is to spin the blower faster. So if make the upper smaller or the bottom larger, the blower spins faster. The term +2, +4, +6 etc refers to the extra boost the pulley will provide based on a stock L setup (HD is 2 lbs lower because of smaller upper pulley from factory). So you should think about a +6 to start. A two piece lowerpulley will allow you to cheapy increase boost. A +6 has a diameter of about 8.75. A smaller upper will hurt belt slippage as boost goes up. Factory lower is a very good desing but it limits increasing boost cheaply. An aftermarket lower is way to go and a two piece vice one piece adds flexibilty. Two piece has seperate hub and outer ring. You can change outer rings easily to increase boost with time. Hope this helps! Again I have a +6 outer with belt.

Ok thanks that helps alot. I kinda figured thats what it all meant but wasnt sure. That lower you have does that just bolt up to the lower pulley? And thats +6 with the stock upper pulley? I Think thats what I would need then. Thanks.

Me bad +6 lower would give 14 lbs of boost thorectically. Diffrent manfacturers have slightly diifrent sizes. And when you measure pulley you can either go outside foameter of ring or where the belt actually sits. I measured where the belt goes outside is about 9. Outer rings are interchangeable between manufacturers. I have the outside ring only, no hub. Hub bolts to damper. When you go aftermarket on lower, you will need a small ring that goes inside hub and mates to raised portion of damper. If you don't get one with the pulley, most companies qill sell you just the ring. Tell them you have a 99/00 L, they used stock dampers. 12 is a good start also. I have a +8 pulley, its about as large as you can go before you have to move tranny lines.

Ok gotcha, I read more about it on that metco site. I need to find the hub and stuff then. I'll let you know about yours if I can find the hub somewhere else. Doubt theres anyone selling just the hub but we'll see.

I have the outer ring only. This is part of the two piece system. Other piece is the hub ahich also bolts to the engine damper. If yu have nothing then you need to by a complete package. Outer ring is only good if you already have something,

It's mostly a DSS short block! All forged internals. http://www.dssracing.com/SearchResults.asp
Then I had a spring break,drop a valve and bust a piston.
So it went to JLP for all new pistons, bearing and balancing.
So as of now it's 9.0:1 compression and .020 over.

Phil

That may be a good price for a new one, but you should be able to get used one for closer to 100. OBTW if your building a 500 street motor you don't need to spend a lot. I used probe pistion with 18cc dish. Mahle rings, SCAT H beam rods (over kill) and stock L forged crank (refered to as Kellog). Most rods and dramks for that matter are from China. SCAT is one of the few that machine their own,

Yeah i'm not looking to spend alot... I dont need anything too extreme. Just a stout motor to hold up to the blower. There arent too many actual rotating assemblys out there so i'll probably just piece one together. Dont want to mess up though and order something wrong.... Should be pretty self explanitory.

Didnt get a chance to bring my motor to the machine shop so hopefully on tuesday I can.... I want to completely go over the block to make sure everything is good before I go ordering the parts for it. I'll look into that setup u have though CobraKit, should be perfect for my application. The 18cc dish should make it around 8.5:1 right? Thats what i'm looking for. Thanks!!

Cancel what I said, 18cc is around 8.9:1 I think.
