Supercharger tune
Supercharger tune
Ok, so it's a long shot that I'll get this supercharger kit (the powerdyne for sale in the classifieds). But if I was to get it, is it something that's not too hard to install myself? About the most extensive work I've done on a vehicle is install a lowering kit, but I know that's a completely different type of work, but was hoping this wouldn't much much more difficult. Also, my big question is: where would I take it to get it tuned after install? I'm in kind of a small town and am not sure if there would be anywhere here or not, or if just a dealer can do it for me. If I had to take it to the DFW area, how would I get it there? Is it safe to drive w/out the tune, and if so how far is safe?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Centrifugal blowers on trucks are cake walk to install.
Where do you live?
DFW/Lewisville has arguably the best tuner when it comes to boosted mod motors. HPP Racing. You could tow it, or you could have a basic tune done on a hand held and "limp" it there to DFW and have a dyno tune done.

hmm...I'm about an hour and a half from ft. worth. $1100 sounds like a great deal for the powerdyne kit doesn't it? Not sure how much shipping would be, but it shouldn't be too much I wouldn't think. May have to use some of my left over student loan money
A tuner will be 200-500(used/new what brand/type etc.)
A dyno tune will be $300+-
College student? Save your money and don't use your student loan money.
Yeah I'm a college student. And I wouldn't normally use my student loan money for anything like this, but it's such a good deal that idk if I can pass it up ya know? I'm also working, and probably have enough of my own money to get it and only use a couple hundred of my student loan $$$. Hmm...

personally if I lived in a small town or not a comfortable drive to a nice performance shop I wouldn't too any modifications like that. You start adding that amount of power you take on a whole new resposability. If something happens with your vehicle odds or it will need to sit until you can fix it or someone else can and either way it's going to cost a nice price. You being a student, you may not have another vehicle or if you are left stranded before a class. You've got to pay to play espeically in older vehicles that are prone to more problems when you introduce that kind of power. I would stay away from a powerdyne anyway.
Well, thanks for the advice...looks like I've been smacked back into reality lol - I can't comfortably afford this :o Guess I'll just keep doing little appearance mods and not worry about making my truck fast; seems like I never speed anyway after high school. I like my truck too much to rag on it like that and the s/c would make it a bit tempting lol
good call man. Personally I would save up for a roots or twin screw style since the typically things you do with a truck like towing require lower rpm power and a centri blower is not that. Once again, good call.
They are really very cool, very wonderful
