GT500 motor in an F150?
Magnuson did some in-house dyno comparisons with versions of the TVS blowers when they first started becoming available. Very impressive. The smaller TVS's were out-gunning the twin-screws everywhere except maybe the last 1000 rpms in the power curve and only when pushed to their limits at certain pressure ratios.
No real problems with the Whipple that's on my truck. It, along with the entire engine and Monsterbox transmission, will be up for sale within a month.
As far as my blower choice, I have a several reasons why I'm choosing the TVS.
-It's OEM quality. It's the blower used on the new ZR1 Vette, and it utilizes the factory gaskets and fits like it came as standard equipment. It's also the blower on the Ford Racing Cobra Jet Mustang Drag car.
-It is capable of making over 700 rwhp on a GT500. That calculates to about 800 fwhp. As I've said, this is my daily driver and I'm still going to use it as a truck, towing and hauling, so reliability is one of requirements. A Whipple 2.9, 3.4, and a Kenne Bell are all capable of making more hp than the TVS, but at what cost? Can I still use straight pump gas? Is it streetable? If I was building a truck for the track, yes, the big Whipple or the Kenne Bell Mammoth would be the way to go, but for me, the TVS suits my needs.

Oh how did you like the mosterbox tranny? I also see you ran a 3" pulley on the whipple, was that 3" or 3.125? I'm trying to get to 10psi

The monsterbox feels just like the stock tranny with their seperator plate kit. Firm shifts, not too hard. Pretty good transmission, just not stout enough for what I'm doing. As far as the pulley, I've ran a 3.125", 3", and right now I'm running a 2.75". Whipple doesn't make anything smaller than a 3" for their F150 blower, so I had to have it custom made. With the Dynatech headers, I'm making 11.5lbs of boost.

I've got it and the 3" around here somewhere. What will you give me for it?

KB is just as reliable,a direct bolt on for your gt500,you can still use pump gas.Just as streetable as any roots or twin-screw blower.
You can make the same power spinning the big blower slower, producing less heat. So you can run more timing on pump gas.
Not trying to argue ,but just wondering if you've done all the research?

How much cheaper is the TVS then the KB?

Please refer to the last post. You do know that Shelby puts the TVS on the SS convertible, right?

Whatever you think they are worth. I know from whipple they are expensive! I think I usually see used ones go for like 60 a piece?
GREAT THREAD!!!
I just got to keep it going. I didn't know there were OTHERS on here that supercharged and liked having a fast truck also.....
I have my Roush Nitemare, which has won 3 drag racing events against Mustangs. Stock! But it is time to move up the power chain with it.
But I also have a GT500 and 98 4V Cobra with a Kenne Bell
I am VERY familiar with the Mustang side of the Superchargers, but I am learning alot from you guys reading this thread on the F150 side of things.
First, I can't afford to put a GT500 motor in my Nitemare, nor do I think I want to. I think the 3V in my light truck has all that I need, if I build it right. I am running high 12's stock.
I have experience with Whipples and Kenne Bells on my Mustangs, and I absolutely 2ND the opinion of going TVS because it is factory fit. Sure, you might squeeze some a "little" extra power out of the other brands, but every kit I have gotten from Whipple or KB has had some sort of fit issue and needed to be customized in some way. The kits are never 100%. TVS is heck of a blower and it does fit like factory. The extra few hp from the others is not worth the headaches, time, money and loss of reliablity. Don't get my wrong, they are good companies and they work pretty well, but if you have the TVS option available, use it.
BUT here is my question.....(I have lots more)
Someone mentioned that you can put the Whipple 3.4 intended for the Lightning on the Roush manifold??? Is this just a guess? Or can someone point me to where I can find out about it? I was going to pulley and Port my Eaton, but this is a better option. TVS isn't an option here.
