Roush vs Whipple
Roush vs Whipple
What is a better kit to get. The Roush intercooled or the Whipple, and is there a difference in the Ford Racing and the Whipple? I know they are both made by Whipple, online they look a little different.
Whipple will end up being the better setup in the long run. There is a reason the lightning guys take off the 1.8 roots and go to a 2.3 twin screw. Catch is the Whipple kits don't come with injectors. So expect to buy some 39 or 60lb injectors, fuel pump+boosta pump or a dual pump setup.
Check out Saleen, great deals on those and they use the 2.3L Whipple just in a different configuration.
For example of hp difference, dyno tuned, full exhaust(longtubes) Roush kits do 410-420rwhp. Whipple/Saleen kits can see 450+. Whipple with the Roush/lightning belt drive setup and lightning snout 550-600rwhp with 18-20lbs. Saleen looks like it's limited to 14-15lbs with a 2.87 upper and a custom built lower.

Warrenty? Who cares
Excuses, excuse on 8lbs.. It's not our fault you roush guys are panzy's and only run 8lbs. It's not like us Whipple/Saleen guys are whining yall have longtubes and we don't.

LOL, you guys are funny.
I plan on a Whipple myself. Start with the best blower, then take the care to put together the best "kit" to suit your needs. Roush thinks my needs are one thing, I think they are another. Thus, I will buy the Whipple and assemble the other parts needed for 450rwhp.

eventually I would like to swap to a whipple 2.3L with the lightning snout but that all depends on when I find a new job, besides I have a tranny to upgrade and a driveshaft to upgrade first......
yes last time i was at the dyno shop i was talking about the kenne bell it would swap out, the guy near me knows the fella who make jlp intakes and i said i need to get some forged internals in there before i get excited
i do think it could happen

The lightning snout allows me to use the Roush belt setup to adjust boost more easily
Well the Roush kit is the most complete kit and you get a warranty, the Whipple has no warranty and you have to buy other upgrades to make the big power, now the numbers that were posted are for the Roush at 8lbs and the Whipple at 10-12lbs

After I get everything set and I feel I have a fairly good tune on my truck I'll take it to the dyno on 8PSI and see what it put outs to the ground.
Whipple is 5 grand and Troyer upgrade Roush is 6200. So basically add injectors and a tune your at roughly the same for both.
