Makes the saleen/jdm setup for around 5k seem even more better.

Whipple kits now are $3700 btw.

that would have to be a whole new kit basically right?

No, the snout is like $300, then you can by the front pieces from the roush/lightning setup.

Yes it would.
Since hes running a roush and wants to swap to a whipple.
I don't think you can turn a roush into a whipple by changing the snout.

Dope...:o

I should quit making early morning post. Thought I read that he had the whipple so he would just have to make the snout change.

the whipple will bolt to the Roush intake just like on a lightning. I would need the whipple, lightning snout and rear plenum to bolt to my Roush intake. Basically it would be like a lightning guy to upgrade to a kennebell unit. The I could be missing something here.....

If the Whipple or KB Lightning upgrade blower will fit your intake-manifold.
The upgrade blowers have the extended snout built in already.

Great than that will make it a smoother swap then. I would just have to make a plate to shift it forward a couple of inches. My Roush blower is the same case as the lightning but it has just a tad longer snout. I could get a aluminium plate to shift it forward a couple of inches or see if whipple can do a custom snout.

How did you find this out, that the blower will mount the to intakemanifold?

Roush blower case used is the same setup that the lightning uses, Whipple and kennebell have direct bolt on for the lightnings, so basically they in theory should bolt up. The blower gasket from the roush unit to the intake is a stock lightning gasket that I buy from ford. Now with the varing length of the snout is where I may have to use an adapter plate.

After I get everything set and I feel I have a fairly good tune on my truck I'll take it to the dyno on 8PSI and see what it put outs to the ground.

Whipple is 5 grand and Troyer upgrade Roush is 6200. So basically add injectors and a tune your at roughly the same for both.
sorry to drag this thread out a bit...but you guys are knocking the Roush a bit without giving it due credit.

FTE Ken over on Fordtrucks.com has a Roush Intercooled installed.

329 RWHP / 371 RWTQ on the stock Roush Tune @ 6psi...basic catback exhaust, no longtubes...just the OEM manifolds
then a change of pulley for one with less rotational mass + MT tuning...about 6.5 psi
376 RWHP / 415 RWTQ...not bad for 0.5 psi extra, and some tuning
http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...rformance.html
last time I talked with him, he had finally installed Longtubes back in January I think, and done a bit more work. His truck is now well over 400 RWHP...at 1/2 the effort of the other blowers IMO

will the other guys make more power? yes. but at a cost. The Roush setup comes 100% complete and ready to light up the tires. Another $500 for MT tuning and a 8 psi pulley, and you are easily into 400+ RWHP...and that is without Longtubes.
not bad for a bolt-on blower...then you got guys like FX4 Matt. His truck is just pure monster

btw, the Roush Intercooled is now $4,350 shipped if you look around. pretty cheap if you ask me

After the 400 RWHP point, then you have to get a little crazy with the Roush...but that is true of the other blowers as well.

well of course, every King of the Puddle must start out small

sorry, forgot that there were more Roush guys in here. Seems that most people are strictly Whipple when you talk about the 5.4 3v and Superchargers
