rotor striping?

im really considering getting the supercharger ported my steig i love the whine of the blower should i get the rotor stripped im affaid that it will reduce the efficency on the s/c, because thoses rotors are really close together taking coating off would open the gap and make it harder to force air into motor? someone has to of had it done i hope

Our rotors are teflon coated if you strip it the blower will whine louder theres not much of a HP gain in doing it, from what Mike told me

The older Lightnings had problems with the rotors flaking and so They would strip them.
No way would I strip a perfectly good rotor! Just not a good idea if ya ask me.

I agree with Phil. It's probably there to reduce wear of 2 "metal" components coming in contact with each other.

Dose your blower have the silencer holes on the bottom like the M112 lightning blower?
If so you could fill them to make it louder.

When I got my magnacharger ported a couple weeks back I asked about the rotor stripping and since it was the teflon coating, Stiegemeier advised to keep it on there, and we did. You can plug up them silencer holes as Phil suggested for more noise, I will prolly be filling in my magnacharger holes (I have two smaller ones) this weekend since I have to fix my busted manifold bolt which requires me to take it back out.

Yeah, what I have read it was JB Weld, you have to tape up on the inside and fill in the holes, some rough up the holes and surrounding area with a file or sand paper to get a better bond, and check for any sagging/drippage in the housing for clearance issues with the rotors, if you have contact you will need to sand that down. Do not know about the welding, possible warpage issues may happen?
