And................what extra work has been done to the lower end to be able to handle that much boost? I've been told we are safe to 8# and after that things start coming apart.

First off...its the STS turbo kit. 67mm garret. I have 39# injectors...and thats about it. No work to the bottom end, its stock. I am getting a new rotating assembly though so I can bump the boost up to 20 pounds. The kit is intercooled and runs pretty dang cold. That might be whats saving me from blowing up.

20 psi on a stock bottom end?

How much hp and torque are you making with 9 psi?

No clue. Had it dyno tuned at 4psi. Was 328 hp and 381 lbs. Had the old spark plugs in it at the time and it didn't like any more boost. Switched them out to GT500 plugs and bumped the boost up to 9ish. I'm getting new rods, pistons, and a crank before I run any more boost. I'm aiming for 20 lbs and 12's in the quarter.

Not much to update here Weazel. Mike Troyer called me this week to inform me that he had a truck just like mine with the Magnacharger scheduled to be in his shop on the 10th for a dyno & tune session. Mike wants to tune that truck and get the fuel logic figured out so he can modify my tunes to eliminate the lean fuel issue we are dealing with. Mike talked like this guy is having the same problem as I am. So.................Mike is going to call me on the 11th and let me know how it went. After that, he will modify my tune and send it to me to install and dyno. So I'm back playing the hurry up and wait game again.

How bizarre... I don't have any lean issues on WOT, I thought Mike has tuned for this kit before? Hope i wasn't told a little fib when i spoke to him.

Keep me posted as to what that truck and your truck ends up making!!! very interested in all the results!

I don't think there was any fibbing going on Weazel. Mike has tuned Magnacharger trucks before, but they were older F150's and not 2008's.
He has my truck running "much" better than the Magnacharger tune was. All he needs to do is figure out the fueling logic and make those adjustments and we should be good to go.
Are you going to send him a copy of your current tune before he makes your new tunes? I'm sure he would be intersted in seeing how your current tune compares, since you are not running lean.
I hope to know more tomorrow when Mike calls me.

Later..............

Tommie, I was the one up there visiting Mike, had some bad pinging problems with the tune that came with the package, Mike took care of it. I think my HP was around 350, did reach 380 when the boost stayed level, we got a problem with the belt slipping. I have the 2.8 inch pulley like yours and boost was real close to 9PSI, AF ratio he got it stay in the 11's (don't have the exact figures with me at this time) but they stayed there all the way through, he put in a lot of hours yesterday getting it all set right. Soon as I get off work in a bit, gonna go mess around some. Yes, that original tune was a P.O.S.

I sure am glad you took your truck to Mike. I visited with him on the phone this afternoon and it sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday. Mike has already emailed me my new tune with the adjusted fueling logic that worked so well for your truck. My boost increased from 5 1/2# to 7 1/2# when I installed the 2.8 inch pulley. I don't know how in the world you are hitting 9#. I would figure you would make a lot more HP at 9#?
I am scheduled to install the tune and dyno my truck tomorrow. Hopefully it will look good on the AF ratio side and the HP numbers as well. I will post up the results here tomorrow afternoon.
Congratulations on getting your truck tuned and ready to rock and roll.....!

Tommie, being that he has the stock manifolds he has more back pressure, which will create more boost. if you put your manifolds on your boost will go up to 9. This does not mean he makes more power just doesn't flow as much as you do. so in theory you numbers should be close, however you being 4x4 doesnt help...

For example

this truck Mods are magnacharger w/ 2.8 pulley, Pacesetter LT's w/ hi flows, With boost levels at 7, basically what you have and a tune....

His numbers arnt bad considering the temp that day was 90F obviously creating high charger temps!
