4.6

just out of curiosity why hasnt anyone made a supercharger kit for the 4.6,

i know most of you will say its not a performance motor and all that, but in all actuality no motor that ford puts in there truck is a performance motor but we all strive to make them perform better than they ever should....

they supercharge turbo charge every other vehicle out there except a select few the 4.6 happens to be one of them,

and would it not be possible to take the 4.6 supercharger from a mustang and throw it on an 07 4.6 f150 i just would like a little info on this subject

two words

Pro Charger
google it
I am sure any decent machine shop can fabricate the proper mounting hardware. After that you will need a tune to recalibrate the PCM and perhaps a new MAF.

any kit from a '99-'03 F-150 w/ a 4.6 will work with some simple mods.

the issue with the mustang superchargers is the air inlets on the passenger side VS the trucks drivers side

I'd grab a procharger kit and stick it on

The 4.6's got a weaker tranny too

Something to think about with wanting blown truck turning 100lb tires. Unfortunately I'm in the same boat.

the 4r70 was used in all 2 wheel drives except for the SVT built trucks, if anything the 4.6 trucks have a better torque converter

From the reading I was doing when looking into swappin in a 5.4 in my 4.6 truck, the NBS 5.4's got a different tranny.

100% correct, and supposedly a better one.

4.2 and the 4.6 = 4r70w and the 8.8 rear end

NBS 5.4 3 valve - 4r75w and the much bigger 9.75" rear end.

^^ yup

Interesting fact i just learned:
4R70W stands for 4 gears, Rearwheeldrive, 70x10=700 ftlb load capacity at the output of the torque converter and Wide gear ratio.

good news: Don't have to worry, we don't have any options for a supercharger, unless you have some serious skills and can make one.

Bad news: yes, your trans would take a toll after awhile. Not that it can't do it, but its not exactly built for that kind of abuse. They have aftermarket trans available that would be more suited to this type of truck. Or, just get a 5.4, get the 4R75W and the larger 9.75" rear end, and you should be fine.

I thought the 4.6 and 5.4 uses the same tranny, or is that new for 2008?
