Boost on 2001 5.4?
Boost on 2001 5.4?
I been talking to a local shop about installing a supercharger in my truck they tell me with my bottom end I can only run 6 or 7 psi boost.Which means I wont feel any power till about 5500 to 6500 rpm...is that true.
You better go to another shop!
There about right on the 6 or 7 PSI but with a positive displacement blower,,,you will feel it as soon as you hit the throttle and be at full boost by 2000 RPMs.
With a very good safe tune you could run 10 -12 PSI on the stock block. But there is no guaranty's you wont break something or how long it will last.

My motor is a 2001 and im seeing 10psi on the gauge and have had no problems. Its all in the tune, you could blow it up on 6psi with a bad tune just as easy as 10 or 12psi. Get injectors, mass air and a dyno tune and have fun
Find a kit like this...

Then talk to Mike for the other parts you need.

Shop around on the Lightning sites and you can find a lot of the parts used for less $$$

Here's one on E Bay now looks like almost everything is there

I'm running 9psi on my 2001 5.4 with a procharger;
but yeah I wouldn't run more than 6psi with a positive displacement

With the 9psi on the procharger what rpms does the power kick in and did you do any kind of rebuild on the 5.4.I had hopes of doing a pro charger but was told possibly a positive displacment the best.
i'm still running a stock longblock, 39# injectors, 90mm SVT MAF, 255lph in tank pump and a tune.
with the stock ATI kit I would see boost at 2500ropms, I swapped out to a turboxs racing bypass valve and now I see boost instantly 2psi by 2000rpms

i did a harley swap, and went with a 6lb lower pulley as well. in my math, that comes up to 12lbs boost, but others argue w/me that it's only 10. last i checked, 6+6=12...
anywho, stock engine internals and whatnot, no problems in over a year.

I am running a 12 psi pulley on mine. Stock engine internals. Been a year now and it's still running. I see 2 psi somewhere near 2000 rpm or so but I don't look at the boost gauge that often.
